I have for sale an Alta shorty, 4 inch, antenna. Great condition, has dielectric grease on the threads to help stop rust. $14.00 shipped to CONUS.
As with almost all things ALTA it looks good but does not work well. I have one just for the look because I have not used a radio in 8 years I just use my iPod.
This is the only thing from alta on my car, and I only have it because Wellzy put it on. I can't complain, it looks better than the long antenna and it was free.
I too have the alta antenna, looks good couldn't tell ya if it's better or worse than factory. Wish I woulda known about that 1.3% Eric@Helix. I did get the sponge filter as well but Dave.0's wise words have led me away from purchasing Alta in the future
I bought a Honda one way back when...Still works great. But the Helix, with it's dyno data, is tempting. I hear it improves treble response, decreases bass yo-yo, helps midrange lag, and lowers IAT's 10 degrees too.
You asked the wrong question: The correct question is: "what is good about Alta stuff?" The answer is much shorter, saves time. You buy Alta, it's your faulta...
If you use your radio/sat radio or have the factory nav I would recommend the MINI factory shorty antenna. It is a bit more expensive but I had serious issues with my Sat Radio and a Non-Mini branded antenna.
Okay, haha. I should ask is there anything wrong with the Alta 15% reduction pulley kit? Since i ordered one today....
The version 2, no. But interestingly enough, Alta is the only company who managed to screw up a reduction pulley with their first generation pulley. If you bought it new from them, it'll be fine, it'll be the improved one, but there original pulley was a disaster. You have to give them props, it takes a fair amount of effort to screw up a pulley. But then again when it comes to making faulty parts, they've always sort of been overachievers. It's why most of us try to steer people toward people you can trust; Helix for example is one, Craven, etc.
I like my long antenna. I was looking at the mount the other day to see if I could adapt a 6 foot CB antenna to it and tie the end off on the front bumper, I think that would look really cool!
