A original GP would be fun to track but finding one that the current owner think it's worth the price of gold is the hard part. I would buy a late R53 and gut it, boom you have a GP without worrying about crashing a limited # car. The only thing you will be missing is the non functional GPP rear wing.
I think building a track would be fun. My suggestion is before you build a dedicated track car do hit the track in what you guys have now. Track time is a great learning tool & I'm sure it will also be a bonding experience too.
The old high banks of Powell International raceway was an oval I got to run on in my misspent yute. I'm sure Mark remembers that place. I'm sure my memory is better than the actual event. One of the benefits of growing old is the way it was is always better than the actual event.
Yep, I was there several times. Before closing down the speedway the Corvette Club held solo events there. It's houses and The Rusty Bucket occupying it now. :-(
I guess that is progress. I remember Powell being out in the sticks. The local SCCA used to hold a night solo on that track once a year. Big fun running in the dark & a huge advantage for a guy with rally lights across the front of his car.
Random garage! Hope you find a good home for this awesome Mini! Kind of wishing it could come live with me...although I'd probably spend way too much time staring at it and neglect my familial duties.
I didn't realize you were still trying to sell DH. I would love to buy it, but DH is out of my price range and it wouldn't survive a week in the shitty gehtto I live in!
