I think what bothers me more than anything else is this whole hybrid movement. The new NSX, hybrid (gag). The new FT-1 (basically a Supra remake), FOUR CYLINDER hybrid (double gag). All the coolest new designs have a caveat...they're hybrid. With all due respect, I was raised around muscle cars and giant trucks. While I understand that we are in the day and age where hybrid is the buzz word that's gonna save us all (aggressively shaking my head here), it's sad to see the old era go. It's going to be the way of the future, but I'm going kicking and screaming until my hand is forced.
Please note that Mercedes-Benz is also putting "game boy" displays in their new cars, and in our new Mazda 3SGT it functions perfectly and with ease!! It also garners many a compliment from passengers...
I agree, but I worry that they may deviate that way with the new RX-7/8. Afterall, they're competing with the aforementioned cars.
I'm glad you like it, it is after all sticking out of your 3's dash. Doesn't matter to me what Benz slaps in their cars. My tastes are not the same as other folks, those were just my thoughts I posted not everyone's. For me that thing sucks. :biggrin5:
Understand. I always thought the huge Speedo in the center of the dash on a Mini sucked, why I had and preferred the chrono package with a motorcycle like tach and Speedo sticking out of the steering column behind the steering wheel where they belong....different strokes for different folks...
Of course the aftermarket will increase HP, but the question will be at what cost. That's the problem with the current Miata--it can handle much more HP than it comes with out of the box, but it's not exactly cheap to get it there. 130WHP is a bit light out of the box, and that engine won't be the best platform to modify. According to this, it looks like the engine that will support some serious aftermarket gains will take another year to find it's way into the Miata: 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata: More Secrets Revealed - Motor Trend
My understanding is that it will be a new rotary. Mazda is also working hard on diesel, their whole Tudor race involvement this year is diesel and developmental... There is rumors of a high torque diesel option for the MX-5.
I'm goofy too, about so very many things. Central speedo makes me smile, it's a throw back to Mini's of old.
I like the giant speedo because I can see it without my contacts in. Externally, I'm driving by braille. But at least I know how fast I'm going as I bounce off objects like an R/C car driven by Stevie Wonder.
If there is one thing I can not stand, it would be fully automated digital readouts for instrumentation! To me its as bad as the digital dash on an old Chevy Beretta!
I am so glad that minimark got a Mazda, now I just wish he would stop trying to sell us all one.........
Excuse me, isn't this a Miata thread... I'm not on a Mini thread talking about them. That said, I loved my Mini and still like them, not the latest iteration as much but they are still cool cars!! And yeah, I like my Mazdas too!! PS: I think my Tahoe rocks too!!
And I love anything with wheels and a purpose whats your point? I am building a rat rod out of a kids wagon F F S !
