A friend builds plastics production machinery. He was building a machine that makes 8ft dinghies. He bought a used CNC laser cutter that had previously been used in a shipyard. Just to be sure that it would do the job, he called the manufacturer and asked if it would cut 3/8" ABS plastic. The guy on the phone said, "Hell, it'll cut one inch steel!"
Just met with the owner and there will be several other metal pieces planned for the new place. Their 45 foot countertop in the restaurant was produced by us just last week...
Made one of these today.....anyone who's ever tried to get a speedo cable loose on the transmission of a classic will understand this tool immediately! The teeth on the inside grab the serrations on the cable nut allowing you to turn it. Usually once you break it loose you can turn it with your fingers, but since you can't see it or get a pair of pliers on it and can barely even touch it, I made this - works a treat!
Sweet Carrot just recently opened.... Made the galvanized facia that runs around the roof edge... The owner didn't want a shiny finish, so I showed her some samples with copper sulfate applied.... Instant old... My bike stands out front... Did the counter tops and round tables... And the drooping carrot light fixture above the cash register...
Not sure if you can get carrot juice there.... But maybe.. Angela might be eyeing your chickins Jim.... There is at least one chickin based item on the menu.... So you need to be guarding that coop of yours Jim....:ihih: Best of the Menu
Looks like it'll be a pretty cool place to drop by. I'll try to remember it next time we're in the vicinity.
Angela is a pretty cool lady.... She has over 200 employees working for her in her organization.... Her preferred mode of transportation is a Lambretta scooter. She can be seen scooting around the Short North on a regular basis....
A new craft brewpub is going in a couple of streets back behind the shop that will have some metal we will be providing... Chuck, maybe you could get some additional work with another brewpub that is hoping to move in to German Village... http://www.columbusunderground.com/rockmill-tavern-juergens-bakery
Thanks Brian... I do follow the Columbus Underground... That's the thing about restaurants / bars.... The spots just keep on giving.... They seem to experience a lot of turnover.... New owners tend to scrap out what was before and go with something new and different...
I figured you had your finger on the pulse of the downtown scene (I can just see you and Nathan going incognito in your scarves and skinny jeans to blend in with the locals).
For me... I vacate the premises at 4:00 sharp.... No blending with the locals for me... I can't speak for Nathan... He's fitting in pretty good with the locals...
Sorry I don't want to see Nathan in skinny jeans. :eek6: No offense Nathan. I wouldn't want to see me in them either.:frown2:
Made a movable step platform on casters for a local cookie factory... They didn't give me much room, but it fit...
I'm workin on it... Adding some hipster to it... Not done yet.... I'm growing my own bespoke hickory trees for the handle and hand burnishing the hand forged shovel head made not from Swedish steel , but from Damascus steel .... It'l have hand made copper rivets, not lowly brass. With a hand rubbed virgin olive oil finish... It'l be listed on Itsy.com.... You can pre-order...
