It's been yet another warm winter, here, but the cold is here today. At noon, it was 69-degrees, and now, six hours later, it is 31. It is supposed to bottom out at 18-degrees tonight.

Of course, it is forecast to be back up to the sixties by Wednesday. But, for the next couple of days, winter is here.

This is a pretty wicked winter storm. What's it like where you are?

Here in KC, first we had about 1/4" of ice, then it started snowing, it will be down to 0 shortly, but we'll be back in the 30's next week.

We tried to go out to meet a friend for dinner just now but while the Audi got around fine, the windshield froze over and we just could not see. Twice on the way home I had to stop and get the scraper out and we were only about 8 blocks from home...we turned back and called it a night.

I've owned three Audis with quattro, and they were amazing in snow. But ice is a different animal. I could go, but at some point you have bring all that mass to a stop, preferably without hitting something.

That instant ice on the windshield thing was also a game changer. I've had times where the windshield defroster just couldn't keep up, too.

This morning it was 27F but we had sunshine. For the last week, it as been in the thirties, but dry.

However, 120 miles south, in Portland Oregon, they had snow wind and freezing rain. The city pretty much stopped.

It's another 10-degrees colder... and my house was designed for Texas -- great when it's 100-degrees outside. My living room has a 24-foot ceiling. Anyone know how hot air balloons work? Yeah, that's my living room.

I have separate HVAC for downstairs and upstairs, and my upstairs office and home theater will be toasty, and the upstairs furnace will barely run. So, I can post up here, watch a movie, and go to my 60-degree bedroom on the first floor, roll up in a down comforter cocoon, and sleep like a baby.

Yeah, things are different down here.

Start a pi$$ing contest about topless 'how cold is it' on this thread? Got shut down this morning by the co-pilot. Rule +4 for putting up the canvas, co-pilot whining louder than the SC.

It is -6 right now with a windchill of -20. I still slept with the window above my head open a little bit. My wife went through the "change" several years ago, so the window is always open at least a little bit. I thought I was going to melt at night while I was in Texas earlier this month.

I just got an email that certain lower regions have frozen over and some which's breast broke off...consider yourself lucky. :)

We are back up to 23-degrees right now. I have some pork and poblano stew simmering, and my liker cabinet is well stocked, so I'm in hibernation mode.

Cold Friday around 10. Snowed Saturday early and turned to ice and then rain.

60 degrees Sunday now dropping into the 20's.

House is nice and warm at 70 inside sitting on the couch watching football in shorts and a t-shirt.

When I go out to the deck for a smoke a light zip up hoodie required.

Extreme cold does not bother me, I played football in deep snow. It's the 30+ mph winds when it's cold that will keep me inside.

We have about 4 inches of snow on the ground and the local weather app said we are sitting at 0.9 so I figure they are close. My deck sender is showing 6 degrees right now, but it is under that snow. :)

I imagine we will get a repeat of our -6 or so tonight.

Stay warm folks. Our Lennox is keeping the house at a nice 72 degrees.

    :)

Yeah, the wind cuts right through you. Down here, it doesn't generally get all that cold, but we will get 40-degrees with a light mist and 20 MPH North winds. That combination won't kill you, but it is really unpleasant to be out in it.

If I'm in a condo in the rockies, with slopes and some skis, bring on the cold -- and snow. Otherwise, that kind of weather is no good to me.

It was 80-degrees today. I did some winter yard and garden work. I have windows open in the house to freshen the air in here.

A front is coming tomorrow, but it's only dropping us into the 50s and 60s.

There is a chance of snow next Friday, but it won't amount to anything. It will fall to the ground and melt.

The weather guesser said it was suppose to be in the 50s Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. January in Ohio. It will probably be 0 by the end of the week.

It's funny you mention that. Yes it is dry and it makes a world of difference. The worst heat I ever felt was fairly close to where you are. We spent one week in the month of July in Livingston Texas and that was the worst humidity I ever experienced.
