Given Liberty seems intent to introduce a budget cap, some might enjoy a reminder of what happened last time this was attempted. That is, when the FIA (ala Max Mosley) attempted to force a budget cap on the teams.

I'd forgotten just how far that conflict went. Here's a run down: https://thejudge13.com/2017/02/02/teams-abandon-f1-over-cost-cap-if/

He knows all of Mercedes technical secrets.....how can they force him not to use them?

They now have the same engine and by mid season will have all the same chassis tweaks - could make for an interesting season later on.

Between them and a newly pumped up engine in the Red Bull, I think Mercedes will have a tougher time of it this season.....

I expect Ferrari to be back in 5th, like they were when Alonslow drove for them.

Big Mac? Big question mark. You can't keep Honda at the back or middle of the grid forever, and with the new hot shoe Stroll coming out he's going to want to show Fred a thing or two.....much like Verstappen.

No idea how Bottas and the Hamster will get along.....but as good as Bottas is I don't seen him as a threat to the Haminator.

    Could be a fun season!

As for the rest of them, Renault could be a surprise. I expect Sauber to be the new Manor (well, somebody has to come last!) . Haas will founder if Ferrari doesn't keep up on the power front. Force India and Toro Rosso in the middle as usual too.

Yep, that's why we usually see a gardening leave period after someone like him leaves a team, to let knowledge become just a bit stale before it gets applied elsewhere. My guess is this is one of the things Williams got out of allowing the Bottas swap.

Depressing confirmation of something many of us have been worried about...that is, if he's right.

Dallara: It will be almost impossible to overtake (grandprix247.com)
As someone commented re this article, thanks to the aero wake and wider cars Monaco may be, even moreso than it has been lately, a procession won during quali.

Yes if this is true & it very likely is, quali will be the real race. Sadness for anyone who enjoys racing.

But the thing they are ignoring is the increase in down force is not mainly coming from wings. The front wing is a little bigger and the rear is wider but much lower. A very big part of the down force increase is ground effects. Ground effects are not hampered by the car in front. One of the reasons Mercedes and Red Bull's trick suspension is a big deal right now. You want to keep the distance from the floor to the road as consistent as possible.

They should use garage door weather stripping to seal that area off. Works on a MINI I hear.

Nope it not deep enough. But cove base molding works or garden edging. For those of us that don't have multi million $ budgets. You could also try loading dock fiber seal. (broom bristles) F1 did use this back in the 70s.

I like the vintage stuff. For F1 they'd use carbon fiber instead of corn husks.

There have been a lot of renderings out there, attempting to show what the new cars might look like. No need to pay much attention to those, they're just estimates based on the new rule specs.

But these are from Williams. Still not the actual car and some details are certain to be generic so as to not give away too much before they reveal the real thing in a week or so.
