I discovered these guys while searching through YouTube for some rare Who songs. I know The Who is the greatest rock band ever (yes, I know that), and I like bluegrass too. So, I was pleasantly surprised to discover this mix of the two. The Hillbenders have recorded the entire rock opera Tommy in acoustic bluegrass style, calling it a "opry". :biggrin5: I got a kick out of that, but then I heard them and I loved their take on Tommy. And they've also recorded other Who songs as well. Here's a few of them: [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cg2HJl1QUEg"]The HillBenders - Amazing Journey [Live at WAMU's Bluegrass Country] - YouTube[/ame] [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLgbU7acsgY"]Pinball Wizard-The HillBenders record The Who's "Tommy" in it's entirety - YouTube[/ame]
A massive 5 CD set of Grateful Dead covers is about to be released in May. Some teasers were released today. Will pick up the limited edition vinyl.
It's a cover, I guess...right? :skep: I think it really says something about a composition when even this sort of strange treatment works. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTnGI6Knw5Q"]Bohemian Rhapsody Played by 100+ year old fairground organ - YouTube[/ame]
