Not with the MINI, but stuck in Amelia Island today it looks like. Thought about going to the little car show they have here, but man those tickets are a little steep. I'm sure I'll see some fun stuff driving around.
Having new summer tires mounted onto my summer rims (205/50/16 Conti ExtremeContact DW --> 205/55/16 Conti ExtremeContact Sport). I won't actually swap them onto the MINI until a couple weeks from now, as we're expecting 6-10 inches of snow in a few days, and maybe some more the following week.
Made a run to Lowes with the R53 to get Stubb's charcoal for my persistent grilling. Swung by the grocery and liquor store too.... to keep the front/rear mass in balance so that the fun factor wasn't diminished. .
Put the Blizzak's back onto the MINI. Chance of 4 to 6 inches of snow. By far the best thing that I ever did for the MINI is to buy a spare set of rims and have Blizzak's fitted.
They say we could get anywhere from 8, 10, or 12-24 inch of snow tonight and tomorrow. My MINI is tucked into the garage. I love working from home.
I would love to work closer to home. Currently drive 56 miles, one way. Local company ( about 5 miles away) has a "help wanted" ad for tool and die makers, with a $3000 sign on bonus after 90 days, but their health insurance sucks. Basically just catastrophic event insurance.
If you want to have fun at the dealership while picking up OEM 1st gen oil filters stop by the showroom. Ask one of the sales guys to show you how to check the oil.:lol::lol::lol: I did it once and it took 3 people 25 minutes. I was like" Yeah that easier than just using a dipstick" :ihih:
Nothing... left it tucked in the garage while I cleared the driceway. F$÷× YOU OLD MAN WINTER!!! Hit the bricks already.
Finally finished all of the things I wanted to do under the bonnet. Turbo Blanket along with ceramic shielding on the underside of the AEM shield, plus rasing it by 1/2". Started it up...realize this car only has 6878 miles on it since new and I put almost 2800 miles driving it from Corvallis, Oregon to Phoenix and then back again...here is a video and sound just after startup with the temperature around 55 degrees...I thought the timing chain issue didn't show up until over 40k miles. I used very long screw driver to try and find the noise...my ole ears aren't what they used to be and I couldn't pin point it although it does seem to come from the front of the engine somewhere. What do you think? https://youtu.be/2J9cewDrNCg
Finally got it out for a decently long drive over to Fort Worth. I drove by Motorsports Ranch, where I used to workout my Track prepped Miata. I had to sell that car to pay for cancer treatment. That was probably the worst part of getting cancer. That car was set up just right. I have another photoshoot in Fort Worth Thursday, so another decently long drive. Then, I'm of to Kansas, Missouri and Florida, which means the MINI will be in (covered) airport parking, again. The guy who owns the cars I'm shooting Thursday hands me the keys, and tells me to bring the cars back when I'm done -- Ferrari Daytona spyder, Mercedes Gullwing... whatever. Looks like I have a Pantera, and one of my favorites, a 993 Turbo this time. CD
Drove the MINI to Fort Worth again. If anyone is wondering what to get me for my birthday in June, here is what I want. Its a Porsche 993 Turbo. I have actually photographed this car twice. Believe it or not, that actually happens a lot. Auction companies can't re-use photos -- well, without paying me. I own my photos, so they have to pay me to shoot the car again. Re-using photos from a previous auction is a bad move, too. I don't allow it. It is just bad business all around. I have driven this car significant miles. I've driven several 993 Turbos. They are awesome, manly-man Porsches. This particular 993 Turbo also happens to be really, really pretty. A beautiful deep dark blue. CD .
Having rear struts put on, struts that took 6 days to arrive from Texas due to this weather nonsense. Oh and while it's in there getting an alignment anyway, figured why not throw on some new wheels and tires I'm mildly nervous about the fitment.... I'm on stock susp - putting on 225/45/17's with 17x8.5 Wheel, offset of 30 :eek6:
