Here's the other end of a wastegate piping assembly (from a Toro Rosso). A LOT of detail pics like these being published/posted today. I wonder whether it's because Liberty relaxed access rules.
Merc pushing their T-wing further along. They obviously feel like it's a beneficial area for development.
Here's where the ballast goes in the front wing of the Renault. According to Craig Scarborough, there's a 6kg block in there. Can you tell that the tech bits entertain me?
You can 3D print just about any material now. It takes more time and is more expensive for production uses. But for prototypes or 1 offs it great.
yes, but with Inconel? One of the tougher materials to do this I would imagine....but the thing that impresses me is that the inside is smooth enough for this application, 3d printing in the past did not have this level of quality. I also wonder how long it takes to print this part?
Watching free practice 1 and 2 last night, or early this morning, I noticed how much more pit access the camera men had than before. The close-ups and details they were showing of the cars stripped down was fascinating.
Antonio Giovinazzi will drive Wehrlein's Sauber. Apparently Wehrlein is healed from his pre-season injury but while he was healing he couldn't train so he's not up to the fitness level required for a race in the new cars.
Whoa! Vettel broke the Albert Park lap record during FP3. Also, "has Stroll crashed yet?" Yes, he has.
