I think he meant that the ball joints are stuck in the hub after he got the bolts out - not that they won't come out of the lower control arm. At least I hope soo cause that's what my advice was based on!
Yeah, I have the tool to remove the ball joint from the control arm, but as Minidave says, it's stuck in the hub. Soaked overnight with PB, and now that I'm home from work, I'm going to attack it from the top with an aluminum drift and a BFH.
Finally finished fixing my frozen outside faucet. Now, I can wash my car...then wax my car...then detail the interior...and the list goes on and on.
Rebuilt the left trailing arm and brakes on the 89 Mini, trying to get ready for an upcoming run this Sat - which I think will be cancelled due to bad weather.
Wasrshed my sweeties clubster. Man did it ever need it. Next up a full interior cleaning. But first a back road drive down to the river tomorrow in the German bread-van. :arf:
Dropped er off in the international Park and Ride at the Hartsfield Jackson today and headed up to Toronto. Again. Gawd it's cold up here and Jeep Renegade's are garbage.
On the way to the office this morning, I was following a slow pick up truck who stopped at an intersection to make a right hand turn. The problem was there was a whole line of traffic behind him. I was followed very closely by a red corvette whose driver got very impatient and started sounding his horn. When the traffic cleared and the pick up truck in front finally pulled onto the road, a wide 6 lane road, steep uphill with two really nice bends, the pick up truck cut me off an pulled into the far left lane. The Corvette pulled into the middle lane and booted it up the hill. I pulled into the right lane and chased the corvette. At the second bend, I was side by side with the vette. When we got to the top the hill, the Corvette driver gave me the thumbs up. We were NOT racing. Just driving spirited and safe.
My expectations were so low, I didn't think it could be worse... And the plastic removable sunroof(s), though a cool idea, are louder than an R53's sunroof(s). and the little Jeep grill and headlights, symbol if you will, is EVERYWHERE. It's like they're trying to say, look we know this thing is shitty but we make the Wrangler! See!? This is what the front of it looks like! And really, Chrysler has been making s*** vehicles since long before Fiat Acquired them in 14'.
The cigars are sorted and packed, as is the rest of the car except for my suitcase. I just need to gas up the car and get going early Monday morning.
Made in Italy. http://www.businessinsider.com/jeep-renegade-all-american-suv-made-in-italy-2017-2 I work in a stamping plant that makes the floor pans, doors, cowls, etc, for the Wrangler, Grand Cherokee models.
Nothing today, but yesterday I had to drive to downtown Dallas, and on the way back to the burbs, there was little traffic on the tollway, and people were hauling a$$. I was doing 80-plus most of the way, and got over 100 a few times. I wasn't alone. It is nice to let the horses run from time-to-time. CD
I made some backup lights out of little round LEDs. Since I installed a trailer hitch -- which passes right through the hole in the bumper where the original backup light was positioned -- I got tired of not having backup lights anymore. It's dark behind my house and I really need to see when parking my car at night. Not sure why they look like different brightness in the photo, but with the naked eye these LEDs look the same. And they are much BRIGHTER than the stock MINI backup light.
Found this: Last night, on the way to work, I hit some object in the road. Didn't see what it was because of oncoming lights. Checked this morning and found this. I'm guessing that this is all one piece with the radiator support. Trip to The Dragon looking less and less likely. :cryin: Wheel well liner is also cracked. I guess that I could get a piece of thin aluminum strip and pop rivet the 2 pieces together. After all no one will see it, right? However, now I know that it's broken, my OCD has kicked in and I have to get it replaced.
