Hello everyone, I have noticed that my rear calipers are not fully releasing during my normal commute. I have read that this happens with the rear calipers on R53's, so do I need new calipers now? Or can I get the replacement bronze bushings to hopefully cure the sticking? I have noticed that they don't seem to affect normal driving too much, but when I want to have fun they are really dragging me down. Thanks!
You can try lubing them....and breaking the internal mechnism free.... But most likely you will need to replace them.... A few folks have had IFFY luck at best with rebuilt units...a few post here had folks buy rebuilds...only to have it happen AGAIN pretty fast....
Before going to all of that trouble, get the bushings as they will be a big benefit regardless of the caliper condition. One thing to check is that the inner pad is indeed still attached to the piston via the clips. These can and do come off of the pads and can cause issues.
