I have Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport in 205/45 17 on my Mini. I have really liked the tires. But before I go get more today I thought I would see if any has a tire they like in the same price range. Its about 95 per tire.
Try the Continental ExtremeContact DW summer tire (not the DWS all season) It's 3 pounds lighter than the RE760, has a comfortable ride, is fantastic in wet weather, and the price and treadwear are in the same ballpark as the RE760. Only real downside is that the steering response is a little soft, but it handles very well despite that. If you want a tire in the same category as the RE760 with nice stiff sidewalls and good steering response in an UHP tire, then the BFG g-Force Sport COMP-2 is a better tire than the RE760. I'd go for the DW, though. I have had them in 205/50/16 on my MINI for over a year now.
I'm also a big fan on the Conti DW's. I've upgraded to Star Specs as my summer street tire on the MINI, but will probably put Conti DW's on my daily driver when I buy summer wheels for it.
Thanks guys. I did not plan on getting tires yet but I woke up to a screw in one and was told it is to close to the side wall to fix
MSC02 If you get the urge to try a set of Goodyears, I have some coupons I can send you. As a former GT&R tire builder I get coupons for four sets of goodyears or Dunlops a year. They're worth $20 a tire. I've only got 6100 miles on the run flats on the new car, but I'm ordering a set of Eagle F1 Asymmetric all seasons for it. I put them on my Goodyear Credit card so I get a gift card for $120 in addition to the rebates. Don't know what size you need, but I'm gonna try the 215/45-17
As others have said, Conti DW is good tire. I just switched from Bridgestone to the BFG Sport Comp 2 about a week ago, so can't really comment on the difference yet.
The F1's are good tires, I've run them in the past. IIRC they got noisy as they wore down, but otherwise I liked them a lot. And I could definitely burn through some Dunlop coupons...
The Bridgestone have been good tires but I thought I would check with you guys. jcacuseyfd I wish you had more time to tell me the difference. and vetsvette thanks for the offer but I getting them this morning. I hate having to get tires in a hurry, I like to take my time and decide. The good thing is that the store I am using sales all three brands. Thanks everyone this is what makes MA great.
I have to Conti DWS and it is a GREAT tire for it's purpose. In southern Ohio climate, it is the perfect tire for me as we don't get as much snow as you guys up north. BUT, I don't plan on driving my MINI this winter...too many mods I want to get done by the Dragon.
