Anyone know where one can participate in a pick up weekend automotive training classes?

I want to take classes, but not for the purpose of getting a degree or becoming certified, just a simple pick up class. I'm thinking more like how some places offer cooking classes or pottery classes, is there even a place in existence that offer a weekend class?

I love cars but honestly, do not know a whole lot about their inner workings. I'd like to change that. I used to not know where spark plugs go into or where the air filter goes or what the supercharger does. I know those things now since owning my MINI and joining this club. I just want to take it to the next level by taking classes without changing careers.

If you give your location it may help someone point you in the right direction. I'd recommend buying a Bentley manual for your car. Reading it will help you understand much about your MINI & cars in general.

I teach those exact type of classes at our local community college, so I'd recommend you start there.....

You also should check for adult continuing education facilities in your area too.

    Lastly, look for Votech schools.

Nice! I saw those Bentley manuals on Amazon, they're not cheap are they?

I'm in Chicago so I'm surrounded by a lot of schools. It looks like Truman College offers some automotive classes, I'll look into that.
