I'm heading in the direction of trading in my 2009 (week 38) R56 S for an R55, so I just test drove one at Global Imports. The clutch pedal had negligible resistance compared to my current car and bites closer to the bottom of the travel; the MA said that they're all like that now.

I'm sure I'd get used to it just fine, but what are my options for making the pedal feel more like the earlier R56s?

:cornut: Other than adding a spring between the pedal and the dash, I haven't a clue.

You could keep your R56 or upgrade to an R53. sorry had to say it.

All the new MINIs I've driven have low clutch resistance.

I would agree. I just moved from an R53 to an R55, and I immediately noticed the low resistance of the clutch. It did take me a few days to get used to it, and I must admit to stalling her like a newbie once or twice.

Upgrade might be the wrong word...moved/transitioned might be a better way to put it. My R53 was very good to me, and I was always good to it. It was, without doubt, the best car I've ever owned...and I do miss it. Only time will tell how I take to the Clubman, but I am loving it so far. And I am very happy I chose to stay with a MINI, over other vehicles that may have been a bit more family practical.

And to keep on topic...now that I am used to the lower resistance on the clutch, sitting in traffic is MUCH easier than it ever was with my R53. So there's that.
