    I wonder what it weighs at this point. LOL

    From the article:
    Since more than 35 years Mac Audio stands for high quality power sound in fields of car hi-fi with outstanding powerful sound components. No matter, if loudspeakers with high sound performance, enormously powerful amplifiers, vigorous subwoofers or other kind of accessories – Pulheim north-west of Cologne is the right address. What the single products in combination with each other are able to perform in practice shows the successful manufacturer in his completely loaded Mac Audio Showcar. This year, the company has chosen the new Mini Clubman S for demonstration aims.

    That is certainly something else.

    I think they chose a great car for it, and I am a fair audio fan -- but not as much in my car.

    I have what passes for listening to music. Still, I don't know that I would want a sound experience while driving (outside of the engine and exhaust of course).

    @tomas6791could you recommend me a good sub?

    Sorry for being off topic. I'm looking for a good sub for my ride and can't wrap my head around which would suit me best.

    Do I need to spend over $1000 to get some decent sound? I've been reading the reviews all over the internet and I didn't get closer to finding a solution. Plus most reviews are hype. Blatant copy of manufacturer's features that's it. Now I've found a different site which writes more on our language. Still there are 10 subs on the page and it's hard to choose. This best car sub for the money post is different. What I loved about the reviews were that he highlights many negatives. Best of all they are not watered down.

    What are the most important things when you're looking for a sub? Any tips?

    I am a huge fan of JL Audio subs and JL Audio and Alpine Digital Amps. I have used JL subs in many award winning show cars, as they always produce nice tight bass without being a “booming” sub.

    I have a 10W6 in my 2005 JCW running off a Alpine digital X-A90m 900 watt mono block. All my mids and highs run off my JL audio HD 900/5, they are all Focal ES 165KX2.

    Oh man give me a rear speaker with a reverb, now that's really something.

    One of the benefits of being an old fart that can't hear out of one ear & is darned near deaf in the other is all crappy stereo systems sound real good even if they're not. o_O

    Hahaha. That’s partially why I asked! I figured if anyone here had already selected a proper battery isolator then it’d been him :D

    Nope, no battery isolator. New digital amps are we’ve more efficient then the old school stuff from the 80’s and 90’s.

    JL is a great brand as Dave.0 stated above but can be pricey as any high-quality speaker can be. I've had good luck running Orion and Pheonix Gold subs with Soundstream amps. MTX amps deserve an honourable mention as they're also a solid choice. A good budget sub brand is Power Bass. Had 2 12"-ers running in my old Accord for a solid 5 years without any issues, nice tight responsive bass for a good price. You can get away with a $100 10" sub, no need to go high dollar to get a good sounding system. I'd go with a sealed box over ported in a MINI. After you add some bass you might want to also replace all your component speakers with a mid-level aftermarket version, no need to add pillar tweeters or kick panel mids. Existing factory locations are just fine.

    I had my best luck running my subs at a safe 4 ohm load. 2 and 1 ohms were reserved for competitions. My buddy Matt and I had a competition Escort with a wall of 8 12" Fosgate subs, DVC's I believe. We hit 146.6 at our loudest (2nd place) and we took a first place trophy for one SQC (sound quality challenge). We ran Clarion competition components. If you go Fosgate you'll have to go mid to high end (at least $200 a sub), their entry-level subs took a serious decline in quality but mid to upper end is still a great product.

    @Willie35

    JL Audio is absolute a car audio beast. I've been using their subs for so long and the performance is still great. In the past, I had a worst experience with MTX (not saying them bad) but I never found them useful for myself. JBL and Alpine, both are perfect brands if you're looking for something useful. I see much more reviews are coming on this website about speakers, subs and amplifiers which delivers kick-ass bass and great sound quality.
