I don't think it's so bad it's going to crash valves on the way to the dealer lol. Mine sounded like that once.

Might not be such a bad thing if it did. What's the mileage? You'll prolly fit into the class action... Just leave it, drive the piss out of it until it splodes, then get yeh a new motor breh.

Otherwise just throw the longer tensioner in there first ($30). If that doesn't fix it then get a chain and guide kit.

I drove 4 states like that after I bought mine :cornut:

The tensioner ended up being the least of my woes

The longer tensioner fixed mine... I peeped the guides when I did my valve cover and they were fine. Looked like they were done before..

The engine had a line of other issues and I opted to replace the chain as a preventative measure while the engine was apart in case it stretched.

You'll prolly be fine with the tensioner it's a 10 minute job. Check the vids on YouTube

I would listen to metalman. Don't drive it till you fix it. How good are you at doing your own work? If you have the skills to work on the engine of your car then you can probably do it yourself. If not take it to the dealer.

Welcome to MA...great site and greater people. I'm not a mechanic, don't even play one on the internet, but I wish you a lot of luck with your engine.

Y'all mini owners are pretty cool. Definitely different from the Nissan forums in a good way!
