2nd Gen R57 Convertible Regarding hats--what do you wear on your head when motoring in your convertible?

Being new to the world of convertibles, I have minimal experience, but it seems that wearing a hat when motoring would be a very good idea. I've been thinking over the possibilities and considering the requirements and limitations for a hat to be worn in the blustery environment of my Mini (which is now sitting dockside in Baltimore) and haven't come up with many ideas. I have a visceral dislike of baseball caps. But I also don't like "old man" flatcaps (e.g., Ivy caps). At least overthinking this question is giving me something to do while waiting for my Mini to arrive and helps resist the temptation to just drive to Baltimore (I could be there by lunchtime tomorrow) and fetch it off the pier directly.

So, I'm curious: What do others wear on their heads when motoring in the open air? Are there any lessons to be learned from poor decisions that you'd like to pass along?

Learn to like ball caps ;)

About the only time I wear them is in the cabrio.

I have a furry bomber hat with ear flaps for winter :)

And sunscreen for your ears and neck...

Tilley hat...regular style with smaller brim, not Aussie outback style...they fit loose so use the chin strap!

Nothing while motoring, just bring a hat to wear for where ever your going.. The windscreen does actually work to cut down on the backdraft...

How much folliage you have left is a major factor... I have too much for sunscreen, but not enough for shade. So... cap. Otherwise, I'd be sunscreening the dome.

I never wear a hat, unless I am in my Roadster with top down. Reason? To shade my eyes from the sun so I can see! So the hat style is irrelevant.Whatever shades your eyes matters. I wear a brim with a head band.

Old man flat hat. The gentle breeze from a passing 40 ton Mack is just too playful with the bill of a ball cap for my liking.

I have an awning striped propellor beanie with a Star Trek pin on the front, that I wear when I drive my MG. It keeps the wind from blowing my hair and the propellor spins when I'm going down the road!

I find that the bill on a ball cap helps keeps the sun out of my eyes, with out having to use the visor, which is worthless at best. With that said, I like hats. I have meany of them and wear one all the time.

This is the recommended headgear that's popular with some of our locals...
