    Hi guys,

Hope you all enjoying your weekend!?

    I have a concern,

My car 07 MCS was serviced,

Overfilled by 500ml...I did not know.

Drove the car for 40km, and smoke started pouring out the exhaust on a rev, pull away

Drove home left the car to cool, and drained the excess oil myself.
    The smoke immediately subsided.

To date, 1 week later, the car drives really well! BUT after a while when it gets hot, smoke still comes out of the exhaust (not as much as when it was overfilled)

    -not loosing coolant
    -oil is still clean
    -not loosing oil
    -Doesn't smoke on start up
    -Doesn't smoke when driving
    -Doesnt smoke on idle
    -car is on 64000km

Only time it starts to smoke is when it gets to operating temp for about 30 mins ( like standing in traffic) and you give it a rev or pull away, after that while driving there is no smoke (as far I can see)

A well respected mechanic I know said to take the car for a long spirited drive to burn off any excess oil...
    The car drives flawlessly.

    Input appreciated guys, thanks

I agree with your respected mechanic. Keep an eye on the oil level, but my thoughts are you will be fine & the smoke will dissipate.

    Welcome to M/A

Yup I agree with Crashton, give it a little while and everything will burn off in time.

Drain a bit is how'd I'd address the issue.
I'd be concerned whether or not any parts that should not contact oil are... Not that I've seen this before :)

I don't think you hurt your Mini. It will take some time to burn off the oil in the exhaust system.
I would get a note from the mechanic stating that spirited driving is rehab for the Mini. If you get pulled over give the note to the police officer. He'll understand and let you go.:D

How many quarts does the R56 take? I have not seen anything in the manual for this yet.

You will also get condensation with a lot of carbon blowing out the exhaust tips from a cold start... If your PCV system was overtaxed with your oil issue, you could have remnents flowing through your intake system.... The IC could take a little while to clear out all the oil...

Your best bet now that you drained the overfill is to take a nice long drive...... IMO

I have those same marks on my garage floor and door but my floor is not that nice.

I only get that when I wash the tailpipes and get water up in the exhaust. lol

Go out and run it hard to burn everything out and you will be fine.

I always put 5 Quarts of oil in my car every oil change. The little extra always burns off.

I believe we are all in agreement that a long road trip is in your future, right after getting the walnut blasting done by my Mini dealer, there were backfires, rough running for 60 miles on and off. All those carbon particles were soon out of my exhaust, my combustion chambers were also treated.

Hey guys, I'm still worried, the smoke is still there :(

    Let me explain...

If the car is being driven there is no smoke.
If it idles for a bit, and you give it a blip on the throttle, a big puff of smoke follows.
    Revs immediately after are clean.

Up until you leave it to idle again, and the cycle repeats itself.

Should I put up a video?

    Thanks guys

I wouldn't worry. It will take for ever for the oil to to burn out. That is just the residue that has not burned out yet. I would run some Sea Foam through it. If you know where to get race fuel, 100 or 110 obtain, you could run half a tank mixed with half of a tank of 93. A friend gave me 10gal of race gas and I ran it Half race half pump. My exhaust ended up clean, I mean white clean. Also my S loved it.
Just keep a eye on your oil. If your not using oil your ok.
