    I have MINI Cooper S 2009.
I have some strange sound that I hear inside of the car mostly on low speed 20-30 MPH. It goes away when the engine getting warmer but sometimes I can still hear it even when the engine is warm. The sound is like sound of the tractor.
    I recorded the sound:
1 - You can hear it before and right after the turning signal https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_j2rCBlhOaNYjI4T3R5ZDliekk/edit?pli=1
2 - This recording is when the car is not moving https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_j2rCBlhOaNTkh5djN3OUVKRUU/edit?usp=sharing

That's not good :frown2: That is the dreaded death rattle. Your chain tensioner is most likely in pieces. Did you buy new? There is a recall for that. Need to call the dealer near you soon! Also, you posted in the wrong forum, you need to post in the 2nd gen thread. Hope it works out for you

Are you talking about Timing Chain Tensioner?
It's not new. It's 2009. I bought it from private person. Why it happens on cold engine? Why I don't hear it on warm engine? How much it costs to fix it?

I was asking if you bought it new. Yes the timing chain tensioner. It's an expensive repair, that's why you need to check with the dealer to see if it's been replaced under warranty. Any dealer should know. We had an 09 MCS, it was replaced under warranty. Almost positive they extended that warranty, call them.

Check with the dealer anyway. Manufacturer warranties apply to the car, not the owner. You do not have to be the original owner.

I called MINI today and they are not working today. My question is general: if it was replaced so for how long I have the warranty?

I noticed today the oil pressure indicator was on. I checked the oil and there is oil. Have any ideas?

    STOP DRIVING IT!!!

Get in touch with a dealer and see if the tensioner was replaced, if not it should still be under warranty.

I know, I stopped driving. I just want to know what can be the reason? Is there connection between timing chain tensioner and oil pressure?

Yep, it there is no pressure the tensioner will not expand and keep the chain tight.
