    Hi everyone -

I was wondering if anyone here has any thoughts/experience with this product. I'm basically looking for basic engine performance data that isn't already available on my dash...so I can take care of issues before my engine actually explodes.

Okay, so I'm probably being a little dramatic. :p But I've noticed that some of you have this installed and was wondering if you are happy with it. What do you (and do you not) like about it?

And for the rest of you - what do you use, and are you happy with it?

I apologize if this is a subject that's already been discussed...I tried doing a search but only got limited results.

Thank you all in advance for your input!:)

I installed it about a week ago. The install was easy. The quality seems good.

1.) I wish it had more PID's, specifically AFR. Maybe they will add more with an update.

2.) It will only scroll through the PID's in one direction. You can't toggle back and forth you have to go all the way around.

    Overall I'm happy.

I use a Scangauge II and very much like what it does. I looked at the MINI application of the P3 Cars device and it looks like it performs the same type of functions. It's nicely designed too, fitting between the vent and factory gauges. You can't afford to lose any vent space in one of our cars. Good luck with your purchase!

Thank you both for your responses!

I do like the design and overall appearance of the P3Cars device. It's sleek and blends in well. I am a little concerned though about having to cycle through everything with button presses (is this lazy of me?)...does it have a feature where it cycles every few seconds?

I just looked into the Scangage II - thank you! I looked through the manual and it doesn't appear to give oil temp/pressure info...is this true? Where do you mount yours? The price vs. the P3Cars device is definitely appealing.

    I appreciate it!

That's a nice looking piece, especially the way it integrates into the dash trim. Downside is it only displays one function at a time. I use a combination of Scangauge II and Craven ngauges. I have the boost gauge and water temp gauge and the SGII is showing engine temp, intake air temp, volts and F/A mixture. Kellen is working on an oil pressure unit to add to the Ngauge line. That'll be my next addition.

I hadn't considered using a combination! Another thing to think about! :D

Mind if I ask where you mount your Scangauge?

I use Cravenspeed mounts for the SGII and Garmin.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but oil temp reading is possible with Scangauge II, you'll just have to get it programmed first. I think Way Motorworks sells them with MINI specific programs already in place.

If you'd like, visit my garage and you'll be able to view a shot of my R53 cockpit. Though a bit different from yours I'd guess, this illustrates the layout you might be able to attain... My Scangauge is mounted beneath the center switch bank. It's good there as the items being monitored are not as significant as those on my column.

Hope this helps you a bit.

You can also see a Scangauge install in my garage. Much better than the P3 IMO.

I'll check it out, thanks! Why do you prefer the Scanguage, if you don't mind my asking?

Not speaking for Scott, but I like mine because I can monitor and view four separate functions at the same time. You can also change the back lighting color to suit your taste. The choices of color and function can be changed very easily, if need be.

Yep........small footprint and loads of info available. And the Craven mount is perfect.
