    Anyone?

So, I have an 06 Getrag six speed that has a funny looking "patch". Does anybody recognize this as a repair or "normal" condition. As far as I know the tranny is stock... kinda strange.

That's odd it looks like JB Weld. Can you see any cracks in the case or sign of a repair?
    Maybe something leaked on it.

Try scrapping some of it off with a flat screwdriver.

Yeah, it's been brazed, definatley repaired, a profesional looking job. Think Getrag did it at the factory?....long shot.

I doubted it. I would think they would use a new casing. Did you buy the car new?

Not sure what that is. It's not brazing, don't believe one can braze aluminium. Possibly tig welded. If it is some sort of JB Weld stuff I wouldn't put it in my car. Where'd you find that trans?

I don't think they will use a broken case for a rebuild.

I bought the complete engine, super charger and trans from an 06 JCW that had a tree fall on it (back half). It had 64k on it. This was what it looked like when I separated it from the engine and cleaned it. Was thinking about keeping it for a spare..
