Last night on my way home from watching Avengers Age of Ultron (good movie by the way) the Mini started bucking and sputtering.
We made it home but at a much slower pace and with way less power.

The next morning I plugged in my Bavarian Technic scanner. Pulled up a couple codes.
P020x and P030x are injector circuit and cylinder misfire codes. In my case, it was happening on cylinder #04.

The first thing I did was pull off the intercooler and check the connections to the injectors. Not just 04.
I had some oil and some corrosion on them. 04 was the worst of them.

I cleared the codes. Then after doing some cleaning of the connectors, applying some dielectric grease and reinstalling the intercooler I started her up and low and behold. Problem fixed.

But I think that was just a temporary fix. The cause of the fouling and corrosion seems to be from crap getting by the intercooler and the intercooler hose connections leaking oil. Has anyone tried to or been successful in fixing this?
Or is this just something I have to add to my regular maintenance schedule?

    Thanks

I had those codes last week at MOTD and my issue was a failed Jumper wire from OEM to my 450 cc injectors. My fix was buy new 550 cc injectors and jumpers from Jan\RMW and have Eric at the Helix tent install them. Then I went over to Jan and had him scale the new 550's to my car and it's RMW tune and all codes are now gone. I also pulled my plugs and checked the coil and wires. all was good and re-seated them.

I do not normally recommend an oil catch can for a 1st gen MINI, however, in this case it may be beneficial.
