Alright, well I just purchased my Mini recently with 80,000 miles [as in 4 days ago] and I've had one before with just about 170,000 miles with legitimately less issues than the new one haha.

First thing, 10 miles down the road in Virginia, trifecta [DSC, ABS, and tire pressure lights all came on at once]. Dealership said "Oh, don't worry, it's just a bad sensor. We'll fed-ex you a new one in a week" which is all fine and dandy but I know the ABS sensors were notorious for corrosion/dirt/grime/etc. and forcing the lights on. (Code is for Left Front too if I remember correctly)

Would sensor-safe brake cleaner do a proper job on cleaning the sensor?

    Second thing!

I noticed recently, on a cold start, my Mini has started to bog for a millisecond around 3-4k RPM when acceleration, and it's enough to jerk you forward slightly. My first thought is a misfire but no codes have come up for a check engine light.... so my second guess is carbon build up or maybe the fuel pump? Had anyone else run into issues with this slight hesitation under DECENT acceleration?

As far as I'm aware, the car is easily set up to be tracked. 17% reduction pulley, Alta CAI, Air diverter for the top mounted intercooler, no aftermarket sparks/plugs or anything, sway bars front and back, WMW track springs, and underchassis brace bar...

    Think it's from abuse?

    Thanks in advance!:cornut:

For the wheel speed sensors, I usually just pull them out and wipe them off. I've never had to actually replace one... cleaning has always resolved the trifecta for me. I spray a little brake cleaner on a towel and wipe the outside of the sensor barrel with that. AND I spray some into the mounting hole for the sensor while it's out and clean it out good with the tip of the towel, and let dry before re-installing. I also unplug the sensor where it connects to the harness, spray both sides with electrical parts cleaner, let dry, and use a little dielectric grease on the o-ring seal when reassembling. Has served me well for 9 years with only the occasional trifecta.

For your hesitation... Hard to say, that could be a lot of things. Tune, fueling, map sensor...

Yeah, I'm pulling the wheel on Friday/Saturday to clean it a bit. I figured as much. My uncle/grandfather both swore up and down you CANNOT clean an ABS sensor but I beg to differ.

As for the hesitation, I'm going to go down a list and check things off. Either way, I drove her pretty hard yesterday close to the redline in 4 gears, no hesitation. Dunno what the deal is.

On the first gen cars the tire pressure is figured by the ABS sensors. It's a magnetic read sensor so clean it with anything to cut the dirt but not hurt the plastic. Simple Green works well. I'd clean all the sensors.
