Why in the past week did HPFP's jump up like 100%? :confused5:
I've found them as low as $850 but not sure if I trust the site. Going rate is at and above $1000.

I'm currently trying to get MINI to cover it because from what I've found, is that the 07-10's are covered up to 120k. I've found the pump online and it's the same one used for all 2nd Gen Cooper S's. If it's the same part why aren't all years recalled/covered?

    same as oil filter housings

one year ago right now oil filter housings went from 252.00 to 527.00 no rhyme or reason-The replacement parts are IDENTICAL to the originals, there is no improvement in either of these items I can see, the replacements also fail eventually. Drives up the cost of repairs and I get to explain to people our profit margin hasn't changed a bit but SOMEONES has.

Someone HAS to be making a killing. I just don't get it. I'll find out more tommorrow.
The dealership is gonna charge $1300. If I'm gonna pay upwards of $11-1200 for this part, I may as well just pay the dealership instead of doing it myself. Hope this thing comes with a warranty :)

I've seen this happen to all kinds of MINI parts over the years. Generally, it seems to happen to things that become unexpectedly "popular" and supplies get short for some reason...

The years that were covered to my understanding was from 07-09, they were not covering 10+ models.

The pumps are different between the N14 and N18, but the pump from 07-11 was the same pump for the N14, why they aren't covering 10's is a mystery.

I would assume the price hike is due to trying to recoup some of the money they've lost on this whole HPFP fiasco, and not to mention the 30+ million dollar lawsuit over the timing chains going on right now. Monopoly at its finest.

I caught that 07-09 memo after the original post. The same part number is used from 07-10 and that part is $500 more! Insane. I'm currently in talks with the dealership. Mine was replaced Dec of 2014 and there is supposed to be a 2 year warranty. If it'll save me $1300 I'm all about it :) So, I'm assuming these things last 1 year at a crack. I'm going to buy some stock :cornut:

Call Steven at eMINIparts.com. I'd guess his price is more wallet friendly.

The Black Forest elves musta demanded a wage increase....

OK.... So if this is caused by supply and demand...

It's unusual demand caused by a defective part that's paid for by?????? Somebody

Soooo.... If you double the price (assuming cost stays the same), for every one replaced under warranty, a second one can be paid for by someone out of warranty..... Net Zero to MINI..

MINI assumed very few would be affected and replaced (see comment in letter). They were either very wrong (how would they even know this info at the time the letter was sent) or the "Out of warranty" folks are footing the bill for the warranty work...

Any way you look at it.... If you are out of warranty... Gottcha....

My 2007 is currently in the shop (not a dealership). It's looking like it's the HPFP. If so, it will be her second one. It was originally replaced in May 2011 at 55k, under warranty. She's now at 128k. Is there any chance of MINI covering a second one?

From what I've read, the limit is 120k.

Received a response from eMINIparts. They're asking $902. So far thats the cheapest I've found a genuine MINI pump for.

    It's 10 years/120k. I know I'm over 120k, but the 2nd HPFP is well under the 120k.

I've gotta say, this is one of the biggest price hikes I've seen in the car parts arena.
