So I change the oil yesterday and started my R56S this morning and saw clear looking water dripping from left front of car. Gotta be the expansion tank right? No time to inspect and took the wife's car. What is the likely or common culprit?

Possibly the seal at the bottom of the tank. I have been told that moving the tank out of the way for the filter change can cause that.

My R56 CoopS has leaked water from multiple places over the years -- often at the left front. The expansion tank would be the easiest leak to find, and fix. Let's hope it's that.

Most likely as Crashton said, a leak from the feed line on the expansion tank when you did the oil change. They have since revised the part to keep from having that leak occur.

    MINI Expansion Tank Hose

You may want to take a look at your thermostat and oil filter housing area for safety sake, either of those can leak in the same area. Chances are that your leak was caused by moving the expansion tank though.

Nice to know that part has been improved.
