Welcome to MA! I am a gen 1 guy so I may not be much help. but I am sure a Gen 2 guy will be along. First are you sure you are letting it run long enough? I know on my Mini it takes forever before the thermostat opens and I can finish getting all the air out. The water in the reservoir will be hot long before the thermostat opens. The fan will not run till the coolest in the radiator gets hot enough.

Bleeding the air out of a R56 can be very tricky... MINI has a tool they use in the shop to put a vacuum on the cooling system that then helps suck out all of the air pockets... Sounds to me that you still have an airlock in the system...

When temperature go up to 110 C coolant reservoir is full and air start to bauble or boiling? Before I did work on Oil housing and Turbo lines car work just fine without any signs cooling circulations problem.Just a Oil leak on exhaust pipe.
