So, it is that time again. Yes, for the 2011 Countryman ALL4.

We are going on 48K on the 11, so the front pads are down to 3500 miles left per the sensor.

Last time we did the pads via MINI, rotors and pads. This time I am going independent.

Got a fair quote for a local. They will put on Zimmerman rotors and Akebono Euro pad with new sensors for a bit over $500.

This beat the local dealer by a little bit.

So opinions folks, are Zimmerman rotors and the Euro Pads a good COMBO?

I do not want to do a full DBA4000 rotor and pad upgrade like I did with the R56, so......

    Thanks in advance. :)

    Don

    Good selection...
I wanted to go with the Akebono's on my last pad change but unfortunately they didn't have an offering for my calipers... Dang Nabit....

I like the Akebono pads a lot. I don't know the rotors.

Here is a review of the combo your looking at.
OEM Brakes vs. Akebono with Zimmerman Rotors Review - Bimmerfest - BMW Forums

I disagree on his assessment of the stopping power of the pads. At least compared to the MINI pads. But a good semi metallic pads would have better stopping power just with all the downsides. Akebono is the third brand of ceramics I've had, second of the MINI, and they are the best.

Another review of the rotors. Here they seem to think the oem rotor is the best way to go. Great shots of different brands with cracks.
Zimmermann Brake Rotors Good or Bad - MBWorld.org Forums

    One more for the rotors.
    Brembo or Zimmerman Rotors?

The one theme seems to be don't get cross drilled because they'll crack. I've heard that a lot in the past as well. If I remember right unless the holds are done in casting they will end up cracking.

Since it is your money I'm spending Don I'll recommend Stoptech cryo treated rotors. Make them slotted. I had those rotors on my MINI & they really last. I like the Akebono pads a lot too.

I agree with Chuck here. They are what I would put on next. I have SP Performance now and they are working okay but they have what look like small surface issues that make me wounder about the longevity.
