Well, just for sh#ts and giggles I thought I'd update you on where we're at on my Whitney. Here is the original thread if you're interested.

So after the engine replacement there's been a lot of going back and forth between the dealer and I. Since October 27, 2015 i've not really had my car for more than 2 weeks at the longest stint (and that's because they were waiting on a fresh loaner to come back as the one I had needed an oil change and a tire rotation) and a few days here and there. I would get her back and limp mode would kick in time after time after time.

There was a thought that the elevation I was at (which is like 300ft) had something to do with the sensors not calibrating correctly from where the dealer is compared to where I am...didn't swallow that one. The tech came to my place and reset them, the car ran great for about 300 miles and back into limp mode. It's been a very frustrating 3+ months and I'm sure the dealer is as just as frustrated as I am.

    Things, during, haven't been all that bad. I've driven a 2014 R60, 2015 4-door hardtop, 2013 R56, and now I'm in a 2016 R56.

At this point it's back at the dealer and the last I heard they were going to look at replacing the DME. That's pretty much all they can replace at this point...everything else has already been replaced. Turbo, VANOS, engine, high pressure fuel system, a ton of sensors (not sure which exactly), fuse box under the hood. I should have a pretty new car after this is all done.

Here's to hoping the DME will fix the issue.

Sorry about your luck but I would not want the car back at this point.

Ask them for huge discount on a new one of have them find you a replacement one.

If in fact there is a possibility that some kind of favorable arrangement could be made it might be in your best interest to take it and not look back.

Ask for a deal, take the deal and run like hell. Geez, long enough!

Well, in fact that is my next step...should it come back not fully functioning as it should. I'm sure if MINI USA were to calculate the dollar amount spent on parts, labor and time spent trekking the car between me and the dealer, which is about 145miles each way, they would probably want to find a fair trade value of some sort to rectify this whole thing and quit spending money on it all together. :fingerscrossed:

Nope! I haven't done anything to it except for drive it for a day or two and call the dealer to come and pick it back up.

What cage are you referring to?
