Can anyone tell me where to locate paint codes for roof caps? I can find body color codes with most VIN decoders, but have not been able to find roof cap paint codes. I have two R58s, one with silver top and one with red top but no cap paint codes on any paperwork that I have. Both were bought used so no window stickers available.

    Thanks in advance,
    Chuck

I'd guess the red is Chili Red & the Silver is the same as a Silver bodied MINI. Try calling the MINI dealer's parts dept they will know.

Call Steven ateMINIparts.com 603-637-2900 he is very helpful & will get you what you need. They are also a site sponsor. Buying from them helps us here.

    Thanks to all...

I made the same guess also. I was just trying to make sure that I was choosing the correct red and the correct silver, since there are multiples of each. My question really concerns the inability to find any reference to cap color names or paint codes on any documentation, or VIN decoders. Seems odd that body colors are clearly identified, but not cap colors. Again, thanks for all the input.

Some of the reds on roofs I have seen are a darker red than Chile Red but I don't have the code.

The color if Chili Red all depends on how well you take care of your paint.

The same is true with Black. Waxed and sealers looks super dark, no wax looks gray.

Mine looks like liquid Ferrari Red.

I do not get not mad at all because it rolls right off. My car has no wax on it. :ihih:

It is covered including the glass with a ceramic / glass coating.

    Wax is soooo 2014.

The crap at Pep-Boys, AutoZone and WallyMart is worthless junk that washes off in a month tops.

If MOL would have ordered his new MINI emblems TWO WEEKS AGO, it would be looking a bit better very soon.
However the MINI OF LOVELAND crew FAILED yet again! When they switched head management last year that dealership went straight down the crapper.

These are correct, and the black roof and mirrors have always been done with MINI Jet Black: 668

The code for Chili Red is: 851

    Pure Silver is: 900

And the Oak Red on the roof and mirrors on the Parklane Countryman is still unavailable... To get that code, I may have to pay a visit to the paint store I use and have them run it through their database... I at one time had the codes for all of them (including never produced concept car colors, and the actual code for the Rolls Royce Diamond Black) and +/- 1 shade codes, but lost the link last year when my old phone died.

    Thanks for the

Confirmation. Now if I get touch up paint in hand, I should never need it. Just my warped sense of insurance!

Thanks again for all the input, couldn't find any printed info anywhere.

    Cheers,
    Chuck
