After the nice, long history in our previous EIM mod tracking discussion thread (<--link) I figured we needed to start one here to keep the ball rolling. ***EIMers, post up here with pics and descriptions of your mods -- please share your pride and enjoyment with the rest of us. ----- (OBTW, I'm hoping to have my quasi-annual "big" mod to the Roadster done in time for our Davenport meet. :wink -----
getting my parts together to start my Hybrid turbo rebuild! I bought a used turbo for $80 and I'm having G-Pops shop do the rebuild and upgrade! I'm extremely excited about this!
There questions: Did you do the work yourself? Where did you get parts / special tools? And if you did the work yourself, how long / difficult was it?
Chain and Tensioner Mandatory Mod I did do it myself, bought the parts as a kit from Detroit Tuned, bought the cam/crank holding tool on eBay, took my time and did it on a Saturday, I bet I could do it in 4 hours or less a second time. Made a noticeable difference in not only the noisy random rattle, but how it runs, like brand new. Are you thinking about tackling it? You're welcome to borrow the tool. Are you having issues with yours?
I did the updated 82mm Tensioner last year and its been quiet since, but I can't help but have that doubt in the back of my head. We shall see...
Seemed like the R112 Challenge Spokes were showing up on Roadsters everywhere so I was ready for a change. I considered the R136 GP2 wheels for a while, until I realized that I was only liking them for their rarity and I couldn't sell myself on the look. In the end, went with the 17" NM RSe05s in Gunmetal Grey on another set of the Michelins. Tons of clearance over the Brembo JCW calipers (at least 3/4") and at least 25 lbs less total unsprung weight. I was also pleasantly surprised at how the additional offset brought the tires out creating a visibly wider stance and filling the wheel wells nicely.
Wheels look great Gary . I almost got gunmetal myself but I thought black would help with any future changes.... which may or may not happen this spring.
