The 10th EIM Border Skirmish Drive is on for Saturday, April 22. (See update below regarding the new Friday pre-skirmish) The drive begins at Wildwood Park in Ottumwa. Plan on a 9:00 am or earlier rendezvous for a 9:15 am departure. The route takes advantage of much of the Iowa Historic Hills Scenic Byway. First stop is at the Blakesburg Antique Air Museum, then on to Eldon and the American Gothic House by way of Unionville, Drakesville, and Floris. The route then heads along the Byway through Lebanon, Keosauqua and L-K State Park, Bentonsport, and Bonaparte. We'll be stopping for lunch along here at a venue to be announced. Then on to Farmington and Shimek State Forest, Donnellson, Charlston, and a stop in Montrose; followed by Keokuk, Nauvoo, and capped off (with city permission) with a trip down Snake Alley in Burlington. Here's a link to the BSD Route Map: https://tinyurl.com/z5c2voj Special thanks to miniturns for planning and pre-driving this year's fun route! (For anyone who is thinking of arriving early in Ottumwa on Friday, Jeff has offered to give a tour of his slot car track facility Friday evening. Exact time to be provided later for those interested.) Should be a fun drive. Hope you can join us! ***UPDATE*** For those interested, there will be a preliminary drive on Friday starting and ending in Ottumwa. This is a "pre-skirmish" into Missouri with plenty of spirited motoring and sway bar-bending twisties. This pre-skirmish group will meet at Bridge View Center in Ottumwa on 4/21 at 12:30 pm. Depart at 1:00 pm. Should be back in Ottumwa by ~5:00 pm. We have also made 6:00 pm supper reservations at Appanoose Rapids. Following supper, we have planned a stop by Slot Rods Raceway for anyone interested. Please make sure when you sign up to comment and let us know if you will be doing the pre-skirmish drive and/or joining us for supper at Appanoose Rapids. ******* ---

THAT would be fun. The overhead shot doesn't do justice to the steepness of the hill. It would have been a thrill to bump things up a notch but we didn't want to alienate the city's Street Department, whose personnel were kind enough to make sure it was open for us that day.
