SO as was mentioned in another thread, I am having an RMW Big Valve Head made for my car. I was running the 380cc JCW injectors before but I have been told that I will most likely need to go to larger injectors to be safe. So I ordered a set of the Dodge (Part #04891574AB) Fuel Injectors, these are used factory for the SRT4 and the PT Cruiser Turbo. So its easy to see why they would work for the R53 Tritec Engine. The only problem with the injectors and using them in our cars is: You must have a tune, they are not plug and play like the 380cc JCW units. They use the EV6 type connection, the MINI uses the EV1 There are adapters: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/cei-109078/overview/ But personally I dont like adapters, seems like it could be a another point of failure or make it difficult to track down issues. Also they look like total crap. So I am going to convert my factory harness to EV6 using this kit from Casper Electronics :EV6 Conversion kit I wonder if anyone has done this yet? It looks like it cant be that hard, and has to be a cleaner installation.
Question why go through all this effort when you and order 450 or 550's directly from JAN and they fit fine?
These are the same exact injectors that Jan/RMW and a couple of the other MINI/Tuner/Parts Sellers Use for the 440cc/450cc The 550cc units are stock mustang GT500 injectors Also you can buy the injectors from the SRT4 guys for like 120 to 150$
We used to do that conversion for our twin-charge kit. It worked fine. At the time, adapters were not available. Now I would just use the adapters--I've never seen a failure.
Looks like at minimum I am going to have to run with the adapters for a little while. I will not be able to get in and do the conversion while the car is in the shop. I will think about doing it later, but pretty much everyone is saying that the adapters work, so they might just stay.
