There are quite a few part numbers listed at realoem for the antenna assembly that I can't figure out which is the correct one for my setup.

I have a late model 2005 S with the base stereo with cd changer. There is no NAV/GPS and no Harmon Kardon. The base is textured black plastic with a rubber grommet. I've seen other variations, so I know there are a few to choose from.

I'd like the complete assemble that bolts to the roof or the plastic cover alone if it is sold that way (most likely not though)

Here is the only photo I have of it with an aftermarket stubby.

Hello All:
I recently purchased a 2007 Cooper S, that was scheduled to have its windshield replaced the day I bought it. The car has automatic wipers/headlights. The first windshield that was installed was for a MINI without the auto feature - they simply glued the sensor box to the glass! I complained and they installed the correct windshield for the auto sensor, but now my auto lights seem to come on all the time - once they are triggered, they stay on. I really didn't look at the sensor area before the replacement, and have seen a variety of configurations - some solid with a blue tint (currently on the car), some with the sensors exposed on the passenger side of the box. The wipers work as they should.

Can anyone help with what might be wrong? I checked and don't have the daytime running lights set. Here are my thoughts:

1) The blue covering the sensor is wrong for the model, and is tricking the sensor into thinking it's night all the time. I want to say the two "bulbs" on the passenger side for the sensor were originally exposed, but I really can't say.
2) I've somehow set up a funky configuration in the system
3) Something's been shorted out during the install
4) some sort of reset/recalibration needs to be done
5) This is normal (would a truck casting a shadow trigger the lights?)

I was going to check to see if the blue tint was removable, but while I can get the plastic cover off, the sensor box seems solidly mounted. Does anyone know what is used to mount it, and if simply pulling hard will work (or damage the sensor in the process)? I'm hoping to learn whether the flat surface of the sensor box is a sensing surface, or just a cover for the electronics with the the two "bulbs" on the passenger side being the sensors.

Thanks in advance for any help. The windshield install techs were buffoons - I don't want to take the car back to them. All my dealer rep wanted to do was sell me a new windshield install.

The first picture is my current windshield. The second is of a car (unknown year, but 2nd gen) at the dealer.

I have been rotating my Nitto NeoGens front to rear. (pretty much standard procedure).

Can I rotate the Gens LF to RR and RF to LR on the MINI.

Is this a bad idea for this tire type. I suspect the tire structure prevents cross rotation, but I had to ask.

Thoughts, after you all stop    :incazzato:

Official Release: MINI USA reported sales of 4,425 automobiles, a decrease of 13.4 percent from the 5,111 cars sold last year. Year-to-date, MINI USA also reported sales of 29,704 automobiles, a decrease of 3.8 percent from the 30,868 units sold last year. The drop in sales was again affected by the Cash for Clunkers program that took place in July and August of 2009 and boosted sales volume.

MINI sales will gain momentum as the year progresses due the updated 2011 model year vehicles arriving at dealerships in two weeks. Additionally, the brand is seeing significant customer interest in the Countryman as MINI dealers have just begun taking orders for the new model coming out in January 2011.

Good day All,

I have a simple question, has anyone experienced smoke coming from the car when making a hard tight right turn under heavy braking. I have a 2004 Cooper S and I topped of the power steering fluid a bout 2 weeks ago and that's when the smoking started. If I make a slow right turn nothing, heavy braking same.

Could it be I just have some oil building up in the inter cooler and I need to flush it or is there a big repair in my future.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

Officials in West Vancouver, Canada, apparently aren't satisfied with the driver-slowing properties of traditional speed bumps. On Tuesday, the town unveiled a new way to persuade motorists to ease off the gas pedal in the vicinity of the École Pauline Johnson Elementary School: a 2-D image of a child playing, creating the illusion that the approaching driver will soon blast into a child.

According to Discover magazine, the pavement painting appears to rise up as the driver gets closer to it, reaching full 3-D realism at around 100 feet: "Its designers created the image to give drivers who travel at the street's recommended 18 miles per hour (30 km per hour) enough time to stop before hitting Pavement Patty -- acknowledging the spectacle before they continue to safely roll over her."

You have to wonder if the designers of the "speed bump of the future" considered that drivers might become conditioned to disregard Pavement Patty and her imaginary cohorts, creating something similar to a "boy who cried wolf" effect. Couldn't such conditioning reduce drivers' caution if a real child should cross their path?

Asked whether confusing and/or tricking drivers with such images might create such unintended hazards, David Dunne of the British Columbia Automobile Association Traffic Safety Foundation said that pedestrians need to be just as alert as drivers.

"People tune out. It takes an attitude shift for people to change," Dunne said. "Pedestrians need an attitude shift too. They have to realize that just because they are in a crosswalk doesn't mean they are safe. In fact, most get hit while using crosswalks."

As for drivers who become can't process optical illusions, Dunne argued that they have no business on the road in the first place.

"It's a static image," he said. "If a driver can't respond to this appropriately, that person shouldn't be driving, and that's a whole different problem."

WE have finally come up with a final date for the NEMINI.org Photo shoot. 12 Sept 2010.

Please respond to this thread if you will be joining us. I will keep a running list here of the participants.

We will be meeting at 9 am at

Al's Landscaping and Nursery
204 Kelsey st
Newington, CT, 06111

we hope to get the cars all set up and start the shoot at 10AM so that we can have the best sun available for the shoot.

We are looking for 60+ cars to be able to do the shoot in one shot. But if we do not get that many participants then we will be making up as many letters as we can at one time to shoot and will stitch it together to make the final photo.

For those new to this thread we are trying to spell out NEMINI.org with cars and take an aerial picture of it.

As it is "All About The Food" we are planning on having a BBQ as well starting after the shoot 12-1pm It is currently up in the air as to where the BBQ will actually take place but I will keep this post update with all new info. I will pick up burgers/dogs and condimnets and if anyone is interested in bringing a side dish please let me know and I will put you down for it next to your name so others will know what to expect.

If you are interested in this please sign up on the NEMINI.org site (its free) and then post in this thread - 12 Sep 2010 - NEMINI.org Photo shoot, Newington, CT

Hope to see some new people there.

I just purchased an 06 cooper and plan to change the oil myself. The person I bought it from recomended I use Cooper filters. When contacting the dealer to purchasethem, they said that there is a spring located behind the filter and care should be taken not to disturb it or I would have to buy a complete housing assembly. Is this something to be concerned with or was he just trying to get me to bring it into the dealership for my oil changes? thanks
