New Dipstick: Powdercoat or Anodize

We have redesigned the oil dipstick that we used to offer as the MINI Dipper. Along with ditching the name, we have also completely redone everything else. The shaft will be a spring like some R56 models, but unlike the MINI OEM version this will not be rigid and will have an extremely easy to read sinker on the bottom. The one thing we haven't completely decided on is the finish.

We know that most people liked the red color on the original so we want to make the new one red too. What we haven't decided yet is if they should be powdercoat, or anodize.

The Tow Hook Loop above is powdercoat while the prototype Dipstick handle is anodized. We just want to know, which one do you prefer MA?

I'd vote for whichever holds up better......I'd think powdercoat, but I don't know for sure...

How are you re-designing the end to make it easier to read? I always thought that if the end were either white plastic or even white painted/powdercoated maybe those who have so much difficulty reading the level could see it better.

If the Anodized is similar to the Red anodized strut tower defenders you did way back then my vote would also be for anodized and a polished or brushed aluminum would be sweet as well.

Love the anodized as long as it doesn't scratch!

If it uses lipstick or a dipstick, it's gonna give you trouble
