I think it will definitely look better than the newly announced Fiat 124 Spider, but since it will be FWD I wonder how it will compete with the new RWD Fiat and MX-5 models? I guess people will buy it on styling, not driving dynamics.

Not to hurt anyone's feelings, but the Superleggera is a massive improvement over the styling of convertible MINIs, IMO, which have always struck me as awkward-looking as the Lamm convertible versions of the original Mini.

Wanna better that the Superleggera will be the exact opposite of its name and be quite heavy?

Will be interesting to see what the production vehicle ends up looking like, compared to what we have seen so far..

Yeah, there is no way the frameless show-car 'speedster' style windshield will remain.

I hope the characterful Union rear taillights stay in some similar form. And the fin, the fin must stay!!

The monster, "Pedestrian Safety Impact Standard" is awakening to do big battle with the Munich MINI family design department on the Superleggera roadster.... Winner take all...

And will the dipstick find it's way back to the party....

They usually don't, but I hope the production version looks as good and aggressive as the rendering in the first post.

Judging by the comments posted here (and on and on about the F56), I think you are very accurate.

I'm surprised (pleasantly), thought this thing was going to be electric drive.

Sorry to disappoint the Superleggera fans, but this article is from 8 months ago, and was subsequently denied by BMW execs. For now anyway.

MINI has been trying hard to make the business case, but nothing new (official or otherwise) to report.

My bad. I should have checked the date of the article.

    Just as well...

I don't think MINI would have priced it to be competitive with the MX5 / Fiat 124 anyway....

Besides, it would have eventually spawned a 4 door JCW roadster variant.....:D
