Just after fathers day my wife was telling me about the other gifts she was thinking about getting me before she settled on what I got. They were rims or new seats. She said she couldn't remember th name of the seats but they started with a S. I said Sparco? She said yes! Would you have wanted them? I have a great wife.

I don't know if they are still in the running for my birthday in a few months but I started thinking I don't even know what model would be best for the street.

Does anyone have them in their car and what do you think?

I've never owned Sparco seats, but have driven some track toys with them. I also test-sat a bunch at SEMA. The only sport seats I have actually had in my own car were some Recaros that were pretty tame.

They have a bunch of models, and they range from comfort to race. The biggest difference is how easy they are to get in an out of, and how much, um, "girth" they can comfortably handle. I have sat in some more aggressive Sparcos that felt awesome, but getting in and out of the car was a workout. Not something I'd want to do five times a day.

A former business associate of mine owned a Ferrari Enzo, and he was a "husky" guy. He had a Sparco driver's seat custom made for him. It was all wrong for my narrow rump, but it was perfect for him.

So, basically, you need to test sit multiple seats to find what works for your build and driving habits.

What I'd put on my "bucket list" is a set of Mercedes AMG seats with the programming that automatically adjusts the side bolsters to your driving -- in real time. I spent a day in the San Bernardino mountains with an SL63 AMG with those seats. They are amazing. But, I digress. :frown2:

Bottom line, do some test sitting.

I'd want Recaros AND message therapy after an extended drive in an EVO IX.

The right seats for you are the right seats for YOU! I'm gonna' say it again... test sit!!! Oh, by the way, TEST SIT! Would you buy a mattress without laying on it?

Sit in as many seats as you can before you buy. IMO, there is no way to buy the right seat for your body from forum recommendations. The research can be a PITA, but some times you have to endure a PITA to get what you want.

If you can, try to verify that the seats will fit inside your MINI. Sometimes the upper seat bolsters on the back support interfere with the B pillar.:fingerscrossed:

My seats fit fine and if you are in no rush Lee you can take a ride in them next Sping at the Dragon.

Caseydog I have had these seats on my car for years and they are very comfortable compaired to ALL the crappy beadh chair seats MINI installs.

Also I do not need massage therapy after driving in my recaros from Philly to Atlanta in one day or to the dragon every year. It all depends on how you set them up in your car.

I was talking about the ride characteristics of an EVO IX, not the seats. :D

Recaros are great - I have a set in my car - but they are not EVO Recaros - they are Recaro Speeds, they are now 14yrs old and still look great and are comfy as hell.

There are also the 2nd gen JCW Recaro's if you still want airbags in the seats. If you live in a cold area, they have heaters too.

Air bags and heated seats are for wimps.

The MINI JCW Recaros are just Recaro Sportster CS with JCW stitched on them.
Not bad seats at all but waaaaaay over priced.

True, but when you get the JCW's for the same price as non-airbag sportser's, the price isn't as bad. Still more than other seats, but a great deal if that's what your looking for.

I'm not saying heated seats are a must but there are times when having them is really nice for an old aching back.

I really like the stock seats in my MINI, I couldn't imagine spending money to swap them out for different ones. Also, after having the "bun warmers" I wouldn't want to go without them.
