I thought I read on here that some of you are using a app to get to MA. I finally got a smart phone and was wondering about this. Thanks JAson
Jason, the app is TapaTalk. You can download the free version to see if you like it but will need the full version to be able to post. It works really well.
I'm using Tapatalk now and don't care for it. I thought Forunrunner worked better. In fact, I don't go to M/A on my iPhone much anymore, because I find Tapatak awkward to use. I seem to be in the minority here, but then I own a "justa" phone too. Jim
M/A uses Tapatalk. There is not a branded version of the app for the site. Please visit Tapatalk to obtain the latest version. There is both a free and paid version. The free one will let you read M/A and 1000's of other forums. The paid version will allow you to post to M/A and any other forum that also uses Tapatalk. ForumRunner support has been dropped as there are multiple issues with the product that have been going on for months now. When ForumRunner was independent these type of issues were fixed quickly. Ever since Internet Brands bought ForumRunner the product has not kept up with the versions of Android and iOS on the market. Futhermore, the free version of ForumRunner has been removed from the market, one can no longer try before buying. Tapatalk works just as well on a justa phone as it does on an S phone.
Not complaining at all. I just don't find it user friendly. Instead of bringing up "new posts" it says I have 99+ unread. Scroll through the first batch, pull up to load more and you get the very same ones in either direction, so you have to scroll through again, pull up again to get the next batch. It really is no big deal. I was just saying, is all. Jim
At this time neither Tapatalk or ForumRunner support Windows phones or tablets. In one of my consulting gigs I do a lot of Tapatalk testing so I am in contact with the dev team often. They are currently on holiday. When they return I will try to find more info on Windows phone and tablet support.
If you have Windows Phone 7.5 you can use an app called Board Express. It works OK...it won't work on Windows 8 or WP8. Edit: it appears that Board Express is now available for Windows 8.
Am puzzled why the "app" craze. I simply bring up MA on my bookmarked web browser and take it from there. Seems like apps are unnecessary. But then I am not a technological wizzard.
Usually it's about having a sharper experience, less features but quicker to do the essential. A good app for forums I think should: - make it quick and easy to find unread/search posts - focused on simple replies; text-based, maybe a few emoticons handy but nothing making loading slow down - have notifications (w/out emails)...
