**** I am safe and sound thanks to the Mini **** Well sadly the icy roads the other day got the best of me and sadly its time to bid farewell to my '09 Mini S. Was later at night, came up over the hill, and that was the end of it. Once I hit the ice I was along for the ride. Luckily I had my Schroth Rallye 4 harness in. Appears I rolled it, but I am still trying to figure if it was that or if I spun bashed it all up, and clipped part of the roof on something but I dont see any other way I would have grass in the headlights. Fire/Ambulance were not called, as I was safe and ok. Not sure what to do now, Waiting in the insurance company now and I need to go take all my stuff out of the car. Could have been way worse then knocking my knee and elbow into the door and having a sore body after the fact. She kept me safe, sadly at her expense. I do have a few questions though, Does anyone know the specs on the sensitivity, placement, and what triggers the airbags in the Minis? The one thing eating at me is that if I did bash all around and rolled the car... Why did no airbags go off? You would think that in even a low speed rollover that the airbags would deploy... Just makes me wonder whats going on there... Well without further adue...
Is it possible you did a lot of sliding on the side and roof and didn't have a sudden impact that didn't trigger the airbag sensor?
I was thinking about that also but I still find it really odd that given that if it did do upside down or on the roof/hood I would still think that they should have gone off for safety... ?:confused5:
Holy geezzz....So Glad you are ok.....Now once all the dust settles and insurance writes the check.....What new MINI are you going to get?.......
Not sure... A part of me wants to save some money on a car note.... So I might try and land something maybe a little cheaper. Buddy is already hitting me up to buy his modded '05 S.. So well see..
Holy "E Ticket" Batman! Glad that ride held together and you walked away from it! An 05 R53 is the bomb... Get your buddy's car bought.
Wow! Looks like you took a pretty serious hit there, the whole engine bay looks shifted a couple of inches over! (that might just be the picture though) Count your blessings my friend, you walked away, and that's the best part of this story.
Heck of a ride looks like.. So much so that you don't remember being upside down!!!! I agree with the thinking that the air bags should have gone off at some point.. In the 2nd Gen Cabrio's the roll bar "pops up" if the car gets tilted at 30 degrees or something like that. Air bags should as well, though they don't as we see here..
Very glad you are OK. As far as air bombs go I'd guess your MINI didn't hit the magic G number that makes them go off.
Wow...appears that your car did the donut dance! While I'm happy your external and internal injuries were few, I'm sad your psyche was damaged. The best way to get over your MINI loss and to soothe your psyche is to get another MINI, especially since you know it will keep you safe. Changing the subject some, I didn't know they had ice in Houston!
