As if motoring in a MINI wasn’t awesome enough, now there’s an app that makes it even better. MINI Link is a map-based app that allows you to detect and connect with other members of the MINI community and share your favorite road recommendations and tips. It’s more than a cool, helpful, fun (and some might say life-changing) way to tap into the collective MINI mojo, it’s your key to the MINI kingdom, and a social networking app for your car. • Drop a pin to mark your favorite drives, sights and dives. And check out spots that other MINI motorers have marked • Alert your fellow MINI motorers about traffic, cheap gas, or where it might be wise to mind the speedometer • Detect other MINI motorers in your area and automatically send them a digital wave without lifting a finger. Or send waves manually to MINIs anywhere in the country • Socialize your MINI by creating a MINI community event Most functions are one-touch, so you can keep your eyes on the road where they belong. (But we insist you let your copilot man the app when your MINI is in motion.) The road is your oyster, MINI fans, and this app is a super high-tech shucking knife. Enjoy. Note: Only MINI Owners can create events and add to the map, but all who are MINI enthusiast at heart are more than welcome to use the map to get road recommendations and participate in MINI culture and events.
Suh-Weet!!!! Just downloaded it from the app store, it's free. Make sure you have the volume on when you load the app for the first time, too much fun, lol.
Really cool and the idea/intent is great but lots of bugs. You can report those bugs and make suggestions for other features right from your iPhone. Find the App in the App Store, open the description and scroll to the bottom. Then use the "Report a Problem" button to tell them about the bugs. The more people who do this the faster we will see improvements. As one we are MINI but together we are MIGHTY! Some bugs and feature suggestions by myself and others: 1. Name of MINI does not save when app is closed 2. Waves do not always make it to the other person 3. Push technology, although turned on, does not always work 4. No way to manually add an address to a Hot Spot 5. App crashes when trying to create a Hot Spot 6. Orange dots on map disappear and reappear at various magnifications 7. Allow gas price to be added 8. Automatically show other MINIs within X miles radius 9. Allow token placement from web site 10. Show optional bio on MINI owner 11. Complete set of body colors for all years and configurations 12. Make it possible to save friends to a list 13. Make it possible to send friends a text message from the app (like Loopt)
Are you saying that it's not in the Apple App store or that it won't let you use it in Canada? I can't see how they could block it from the neighbors to the north or south. I can scroll through all of Canada on the app map. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The offerings on the Apple store are not the same for each country. Some countries have a very limited selection. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Oh man this is sooooo cool! 2 things: 1) I need to move to the US. 2) I need an iPhone (or hopefully they'll make an app for BB's too!) So those who meet the above 2 conditions: how do you like it? Does it really work? Do enough of your neighbouring MINIacs have iPhones set up with this app like yourself?
Either I have the settings wrong or nobody else has it yet, as I have yet to see another Mini online? Plus my iPhone is going thru it's charge within minutes now. :frown5:
I take it back. The guy I work with installed his. We just send waves to each other. I have now achieved the complete geekdom.
Took my iPhone to the Crapple store last night, they said it had got wet, yes I did get it wet once, but that was 5 months ago, this just started happing a couple weeks ago, but I'm screwed It is going to cost me another $200. bucks to get it repaired :mad5: Sad times when we are spending close to a $1000. friggin dollars for telephones :mad2:
Was out and about today including giving a ride to a fellow MINI friend that also has the app. Ran for a while both on and watched the updates. We also crossed paths with a fellow MINI owner that had the app running. It is buggy, crashed a few times and has some issues with updating maps.
Android APP? I see the option for the Iphone. I'm wondering if they thought about it for an Android application?
