Ok ladies and gents. Anyone have to replace a HPFP in their Cooper? Backstory definitely running like a bucking horse. Falls on its face at low rpm and def running on less then full power. I'm pretty familiar with engines..... I'm a racer so.... I can talk motors. Code reader not throwing any codes at all. She's goes to shop on Monday. Motor on #kcco.
This will do the trick with a new clean fuel filter if you have a first Gen MINI. http://www.greeneperformance.com/collections/mini-oem-performance-parts/products/fuel-pump Please lets us know what year and model you have.
Mine went out a few months ago, but not out completely. I got a check engine light a couple times within a 2-3 week period. A code came back as a failed HPFP. It didn't really fall on it's face in the low R's, just felt less torqey under boost didn't buck or stutter. I'd do coils, plugs(if you haven't recently, if you have go back to stock) and that pump Dave.0 linked you too. Really though, it's a MINI, Could be anything
Cooper...gen1 and gen2 don't have a HPFP... No direct injection for you! Gen2 S.....THEN YOU HAVE A HPFP.... Think you have a 2010 clubman...non-s... If you don't know when the plugs were last changed, I'd start there....they don't seem to last on a gen2 like they should.
They have updated the JUSTA coils http://www.eminiparts.com/parts/index.cfm?searchText=12138657273&make=MINI&action=oePartSearch&siteid=217261 Newest part number
Nope....only on the DI cars.... Justa's don't need to have walnut shells shoot at them.... With coils....in my experience they usually give a code on most cars when they get flakey.... Hope it's an easy fix!!
Yah me too. Like I said if it's not... She's going buh-bye. I don't have time for an unreliable car. I travel to much. Motor on #kcco.
Ok so everyone's talking coils. Plugs have been done.... Can't find a code indicating coils.... No misfire codes... How do I check the coils??? Motor on #kcco.
You better not "omit" the issues to the new purchaser or karmas coming to get you... The chick I bought my car from probably died as a result. :yikes:
^^^ If it's running like crap when you get it appraised, they will deduct accordingly... Just make sure it's not some simple thing.. A good code reader will point you in the best direction with fixing the problem.... That's much better than changing parts willy nilly...
Code reader said nothing was wrong. She goes to shop on Monday. The code reader also said my car only had 40k miles when it has 58k. My friend owns a shop and has excellent code readers also said nothing... So off to mini shop she goes. #kcco.
MINI and cheap are very seldom used in the same sentence..... Find a soft spot where you can fall down when you get the estimate... Hope it's not too painful...
