It seems to actually do something - I noticed a difference in throttle response and steering was firmer. What is it supposed to do and how does it accomplish that?

The throttle pedal is electronic, there is no mechanical connection between the pedal and the throttle body. The Sport button switches the throttle map to a more aggressive one and also changes the response of the electric power steering. On automatic transmission cars, it changes the shift points to a more aggressive map and it keeps you in a lower gear than the standard shift map.

What's this "auto-matic" that you speak of?

I have only tried it a few times, briefly, and didn't notice much difference. Maybe I need to take out to a fun road and give it another chance.

I have a manual transmission, but I have noticed a significant difference on loaner cars with automatics.

I want to drive a Tesla in Ludicrous Mode. :eek6:

Best on windy roads with tight curves! Way more racy.... Tightens up the car.

Real Men drive with DSC off and Sport mode always on. Less nannies the better.

Your MINI "lives is a carpeted garage all year around and comes out for local trips, car shows, parties and a week at the Dragon."

Mine is a daily driver. I find Sport mode in most cars to be a PITA in big city traffic. The more aggressive throttle mapping, in particular.

I drove my car as a daily driver for years before my office closed and I now work for home for same company.

People would get pissed at me when it snowed because "Dave made it into the office and he drives a MINI"

I used to drive my car everyday and that's how it got 94,000 miles on it. I take care of my cars and have all maintanance done with oil changes done every 3k because I run Meth. I beat the snot out of my car when I drive it but that's what it is built for. FUN

My car has been very modded with RMW parts all done by the great guys at Helix.

I remember once, driving to work at a big corporation (EDS) during a North Texas ice storm. I'm sitting in my cube, taking calls from co-workers who "couldn't" come to work. All of the sudden, I hear the one other guy in my cube farm who made it to work yell, "We live on a f-ing prairie -- how can all these people live on a f-ing hill." :incazzato::D

Hitting the sport button is the first thing I do after starting the car after checking that my zipper is up!

so, the order you use is......... check zipper........start car.......press sport button.

So, for clarification if your zipper is found down is this considered half sport mode?

Never mind I don't want to know.

    My experience with turbo MINI;
Sport mode on = increased fun* with reduced mpg
Sport mode off = reduced fun* with increased mpg

*fun is proportional to throttle position and twisties and hearing your drivetrain/exhaust doing something interesting......

There is no button I can push that can make rush-hour traffic "fun." A button that would turn my MINI into a helicopter would do the trick.
