Has anyone experienced a loose latch on their glove box? Aside from the pricey OEM replacement and shop labor, is there a way to fix this? Whenever I go over a small bump, the glove door falls open. I close it back up, but it just opens on the next bump. It's obviously a pain point and I'm hoping that the fix involves a screw tightening or something as simple — even if it's just a latch upgrade, spring replacement, etc. Thanks, Steve 2003 R53 Hatchback
Seems sad but mine has done it for the last 4 years. Solution was small piece of craft foam jammed under the latch inside the glovebox. I could glue it in but it generally stays.
I want to sell you a Glove box : http://www.eminiparts.com/parts/index.cfm?searchText=51166959970&make=MINI&action=oePartSearch&siteid=217261 But.....I have heard of people using cabinet style magnets and gluing them to the box and the dash this helps when you hit bumps , acts like an additional lock if you will. Hope this info is helpful.
