By far the biggest complaint that we’ve heard about the new MINI Cooper S is its protruding lower chin. it’s a design element that’s meant to give the car a more aggressive look and harken to the aggressive air inlets of rally and race cars. However it’s safe to say that not everyone sees that […]

They say there is a few people who dont like the look of the front end... Must be more than a few, car companies dont even think about a redesign not even a year into production if the product is selling!

Sales will continue to fall as they continue to build a car which has absolutely nothing following the blood lines of the original... A new front face isnt going to change much, we want MINI back! Not another high priced (for what your buying) econobox that has no soul!

IMO it is more than the chin, it needs a nose job. The F56 would give Cyrano de Bergerac a run for his money in the looks department. I understanding this artical is talking about the "chin", but it basically says hey the afternarket can fix what BMW screwed up.
I mod my MINI to personalize it, not just so I can be seen driving in it.

I liked this comment: " R53 best design for any new Mini. Simple classic essential. They need to go back to that simplicity."
Only of BMW could read English.

a small vocal minority...minority my @$$...when you have people trying to compromise looks just to get that 2.0L engine which is terribly underpowered...i think its as i predicted...MINI just laid a giant egg on this one and may force them to do an earlier redo... but go ahead and tell them its just a minority...im really hoping some of the MINI suits are in SF for the start of MTTS...

Oh snap! That would be great! Just imagine... The whole body would be vented, louvered, and down right gaudy! Plus it would be the first car from the factory with a giant plywood coffee table... Er wing!

Yeah, I've been feeling like "G" has been losing his objectivity over the past few years. When I read the statement "While most seem to like the new MINI’s design, there have been a vocal minority who haven’t gelled with it" it confirmed for me that he's sold his soul to the boys in Woodcliff Lake. The perks of access appear to have come with a stiff price...

I don't know what they are thinking with that engine. The one in the base car is tuned for more power in BMWs i8 than the rumored JCW version.

BMW/MINI knows the x56 will outhandle anything in the turns that BMW offers..... They will restrict the power in the MINI for this very reason.... Can't have the MINI kick a$$ in the straights as well.....

that may be but the problem is they use a different DME and one that is insanely difficult to crack and tune...maybe if they made it as easy as the R53 again it would be better

Guess your could say it almost looks so homely it is almost cute....
Kinda reminds me of an orange goldfish opening its mouth to eat and when I look at it!!
But still....the bottom flat thinggy....and the black insert...just makes me wonder what they were thinking....maybe the bumper strip should be red...like a tounge....then add some teeth...lol...must be too tired...was up all night... But the point is, when a design gets folks to contemplate spending $2000 on a new car ($1000 bumper plus about $1000 shipping, paint, prep, etc) to correct a "cosmetic flaw", one must say.... What were they smoking when they approved the design.....remember, the Aztec was a reliable car/SUV, but died due to horrific looks......
Sure I see how BMW is trying to make the grill openings stand out, like a BMW....but think they could have done it a bit more subtlely....

thats amusing...barely half way through the year and already calling it that...wonder how much BMW paid for that...hell there are hyundai's with the same style front end as the F-tard56...when it gets to the point where many new cars have that same style front grille and retarded black bar...mini has lost the NOT NORMAL title...its become like everything else...as ive said...Dorkfish with baboon @$$...i hope MINI takes a bath on this one and forces a rethought

when they have to trundle out every previous model including the classic to try and justify that it looks like the others....it tells me 2 things...1 the looks cannot stand on their own to carry on the marque and 2 MINI is desparate to make this work... when the R53 and R56 came out...hell even the R60/61 you see it and go...Thats a MINI...the design is unique and harken's back to its origins...now you see this one and not even the interior holds up...
