So, how cold is it where you are? How did the temperature affect your MINI? (People with warm-weather stories are welcome to participate, but prepare to be trashed!)

    I'll start:

In Iowa, it was -33 windchill (-12 real temperature) when the power went off. My R56 was so cold, it shrunk down to the size of an R53!

-4 here in the heat island of Downtownish Columbus. I think the wind chill is supposed to be as low as -40. Not that I'll be going out side till it warms up some.

It kept my MINI still all day. I'm not even going to try till it thaws out on Wednesday.

at 5:00 PM it was already 32 degrees! Its supposed to get to 25 here in the metro New Orleans area. I know it pales in comparison to anyone else here, but 25 is outrageous for this area. It usually dips to 32 or just below about 5 times every winter. On the flipside, July and August is so miserably hot and humid down here the statues sweat. THAT poses a MINI problem sometimes. Winter here is no problem for the MINI. In fact, I left it outside the garage tonight to make room for the 30 year old staghorn ferns I have.

Not to be a d..k, but it's supposed to get down to 37 (that's a familiar number) or so tonight....

Hope all you guys have a few nights supply of Jack Daniel's, or another warm libation additive of your choice, to help you through the cold!

    This morning......

My MINI wasn't happy about it, but it did start right up.

I brought it into the garage while the wife was out and about in her Audi and warmed it up and put the battery charger on it for about 3 hours just to top it up.

Here at about 1300' the temp is 3.7 degrees F. Will crank Merlin in the morning to go grocery shopping. Until then he's on his own in the unheated garage.

I almost hate to tell this story, but …

This morning, when my wife got in her car to go to work, it was -13 (-35 wind chill). As usual, she started the car, put her seat heater on high ("Well Done") and then put a blanket on the passenger seat and turned that seat heater on full blast. Halfway to work, she put the warm blanket on her lap.

11:16 PM in frigid Piqua, OH. Minus 17 degrees F. here right now, and that does not factor in the present wind gusts of 37 mph.

I guess that means it's "colder than a dead witch's teat in a brass brassiere".

Oh don't get me started! After a two hour delay I flew a empty plane in to Indianapolis. Landed at 8 PM in blowing snow. Once I got on the ground I could hardly get to the ramp because of all the snow. One of two aircraft to make it in. All this so I could fly freight out tonight, but because of the weather the company canceled all ops out of Indy. So I'm stuck here another night. It's -13. Took a hour and half to get food last night at the hotel. Today everything was closed so only hotel food. This sucks.
My poor Mini is in the airport parking lot in Memphis freezing its hatch off its 11 there.
I sure hope I get out of here tomorrow. I was going to start my vacation tomorrow.:mad2:

Sorry for the rant blame it on the weather.

Why is it that women are comfortable with those seat heaters on high? My legs get seared on "1", and I have to turn it off after about 5 min.....

But I agree, they feel great on a frigid morning like we've been having!

Like her, my car doesn't really get warmed up in the 5 miles or so I drive to work.

Just got a call from my foreman.... He's at the shop and the shop door won't open....

I grabbed a can of mineral spirits I had in the garage.... Went to work early this morning... Got to the shop and poured some mineral spirits on my key...

Presto..... "Open Sesame".... We're in the shop now with all the heaters cranked up high....

The current temperature @ 6:41am is -8F.... Brrrrrrrr:(
