Interesting PSA from VW to which I have nothing to add… https://www.youtube.com/embed/JHixeIr_6BM?rel=0&autoplay=1&iv_load_policy=3 .
That's awesome. Maybe they should make one for Europe where padesterians walk into the street and get hit by a car. :rolleyes5:
This has had more than 23 million views since it was released a week or two ago. I hope someone's paying attention.
23 million + 1, excellent - should be shown as start up credits in movies and just before every stations 5pm newscast.
I have a 56 mile commute, each way, for work. It is a regular occurrence that I have to avoid somebody who is left of centre because they are looking down at their phone. Many times it is a woman in a minivan, likely with kids in the back.:mad2:
I'm sending this to my girlfriend. She's driving back to Asheville right now so I had better wait until she's home before sending. She's getting better about it because I told her I would quit smoking if she'll quit texting while driving.
I had this very thing happen to me yesterday. I was on the shoulder heading to a front lawn when passed by someone staring at his phone in a lifted diesel Dodge Ram in my lane! :mad2::incazzato::frown2:
It happens to me a couple of times a day - usually lane drift, bt a few times a week someone blows through a red light or stop sign without even slowing down. :incazzato:
This one wasn't just a lane drift it was 4 wheels in my lane going for a head on. If I was King I'd ban phones in cars throughout my Kingdom.
I want all phones and apps &web services to automatically be disabled as soon the are moving faster than a human can run. Like airplane mode but GPS / Music only mode.
Not a bad idea, but you are assuming that some of the distractions aren't caused by people trying to enter in an address in the GPS or looking for a specific song.
That's ok with me. It's better then talking to someone on the phone about nothing and not paying attention or tweeting you pooped today.
Thanks for posting that...excellent! Ohio enacted a no-texting law while driving, but it has no teeth, as it is only a secondary offense. If a cop pulls up to someone and they are texting to beat the band, unless they are speeding or doing something else that is a primary offense, nothing they can do. For the life of me, I am trying to figure out who would have lobbied the legislature to make something this black and white a secondary offense...the cell companies perhaps? They talk a good game in their PSA's, but they could be losing revenue if people don't text while driving. it truly is the "DUI" of the 21st century.
But look on the bright side - at least those Russian dashcam vids are posted here so that you can tell yourself how much better the driving standards are where you live........
