So Toyota started paying people for the unintended acceleration settlement. Pay outs from $20 to $130 per person.

    BUT

    The 85 lawyers share $227 million. :mad5:

The only people that ever get anything in class action cases is the lawyers.

"What do you call 100 lawyers at the bottom of the sea? ... A good start"

That is a very poor percentage breakdown. Heck in Erin Brockovich the plaintiffs got 30%!!!

It truly is unfortunate but on the other side of the coin that's $20 - $130 they wouldn't have otherwise received. They can go to Starbucks and leave with some change.

It's just like War? Who really wins in the end?

Sure we get to show the world we can still kick everyone's A$$ but then we have to pay to rebuild everything and never get to leave.

    Like all things...
    Follow the money...
With war, it us the rubblization, the rebuilding, and even the weapons sale...
With class action lowsuits....er...lawsuits..its the same....the "settlement" is mostly about paying the lawyers off...make them stop digging...let's face it, $20 for a car owner is...not frickinn much.....but the lawyers, got lots more...

Sorry if someone asks the US to come in and do something and something gets broke doing it. I don't want to pay to fix it. (Iraq war was not one of these)

At the time of Brockovich the lawyers didn't take as much. So the people got more. It will be interesting to see what people actually get from the GM ignition deal.
