I'm gonna get me one of those John Deere Combine/CD Burner combos. This way I can rip new CD's while harvesting the back 400.
I figured some day we'd come to have sealed engine bays, but was hoping I'd be dead before that happened. Does this mean I'm on the fast track to checking out??? Hmm, note to self start having more fun! :beer:donut1::goaljnky In the meantime I'm going to kill the nanny that lives inside the dashboard of my GTI. :yesnod: Hey regulators trying to kill our fun. Fark off..... rrr:
Yeah and that's why I am keeping my car. This crap will never pass. Someone from Sue Everyone California or God Waiting Room Florida will say well we want defect free cars with the correct MPG and no recalls.
Can you imagine if the only place you could take your car was to the dealer?:eek6: They can't handle the customer's they have now. I'm sure the quality of work can only get better. ut:
Having military grade encryption on the ECU should be enough. No need to get all litigious if someone cracks it and starts tinkering.
I saw this yesterday on autoblog and was so dumbfounded that I couldn't bring myself to share it. Thanks Chuck!
Of course they'd love to have everyone have to come back to them for every minor repair but I think they are more worried about each other ( car manufactures ) being able to read and understand how they each do things within the ECU. Example Ford might have a better "widget program" and now Chevy or someone could just possibly read the ECU and figure it out on the cheap instead of R&D-ing it for a year on their own!! We already know if caught reprogramming the ECU that it will void our warranty..
You can be sure every automaker buys their competitors products for thorough testing. Once done they dissect them looking for deamon tweaks.
Beginning to wish my grand dad's '49 Crosley was still around, talk about your basic machine and they're starting to want too much for a plain ol' C2v. As I've said before, every time you add a part to the basic anvil you're increasing geometrically the possibilities of something going wrong. Looks like the ultimate failure potential could be near at hand.
I'm sure they are, but I think this is to be able to turn it into the "Black Box" type thing to where only they can get into it.. Each company will have theirs to where only they can read it type thing, some how...
Said the gearheads back in the 60's when the insurance companies got the legislation passed to add "black boxes" that ratted you out on your driving habits....:mad5:
Oh it will happen.... There is too much money at stake.. That's why there are automotive lobbyists that exist in Washington.... You guys don't have a chance... And yer all going to jail...
A contrary point of view from a slightly different mobility enterprise: "These bikes aren’t for everyone. And that’s how we want it. Because not everyone appreciates a motorcycle stripped down to its raw, custom essence. And it takes a one-of-a-kind rider to appreciate the potential of a bike that’s ready to be customized any way they see fit." Taken from: Harley-Davidson Dark Custom CCC | Military.com What's not to love about that....and I'm not a rider....or that much of a MINI modder for that matter.
