I'm an old fart, and one of the things I deal with as an old fart is Insomnia, more often than I 'd like. There is noting like being wide awake when you would rather be asleep. I can work my arse off in 100-degree heat, and go back to my hotel room and lay awake for hours. It is even worse when I work from home on the computer, and can't fall asleep. So, Insomniacs unite! CD
I feel your pain. I am exhausted by 8:30/9:00. Go to bed and I'm generally asleep by 10:30. And like clockwork, I wake up at 2:00/2:300...wide awake and still tired. Then I lay in bed trying to go back to sleep for a couple of hours. IT SUCKS...
Well, I fell asleep... only to have my iPhone blast a flash f-ing flood warning at 7:15 AM this morning. It is raining, and someone decided that they needed to tell me that by having my dog on my f-ing head scared chitless by the "BLAD, BLAD, BLAD" of my f-ing iPhone. My house never floods... ever. Wake me -- and my dog -- when there is a real emergency. Seriously? CD
The majority of my work is at night. When I sleep at night I usually wake at 3:30, hit the head and read then back to sleep. Stay away from computer screens and TV's. I read using my iPad or iPhone in night mode. Night mode takes away the color spectrum that triggers your mind to wake up. Alcohol can wreak havoc on your sleep. Most importantly know your sleep cycle and embrace it. I am a lark, so they say, I wake early no matter what time I go to bed then in the afternoon I need a short nap. Last night I got home at 1:30 AM and was up at 6:30, Thats just the way my body works. Melatonin helps but like any supplement if you use it very long your body produces less of it so I save it for occasional use. Because I am dumb enough to operate fast complicated machines in the middle of the night my company has made us sit through endless classes about sleep! I am not a doctor but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express See you guys in the middle of the night............isn't that a Nightmare?
MCS02, I used to be "early to bed, early to rise" for most of my life. However, it didn't make me all that "healthy, wealthy or wise." Much of my work for the last ten years has been up against a deadline, and sadly, that is when I seem to do my best work. :frown2: My biggest cause of insomnia is not being able to get my brain to STFU. Hey, Descartes, I think, therefore I don't sleep. Since I recognize that the voices in my head are "in my head," and come from my own brain, and not from my neighbor's dog (Son of Sam humor), I'm hoping it's okay. Besides, the worst things I hear in my head are old Captain and Tennille songs. The most violent thing I could do with them is sing them out loud, in public. :eek6: CD
Damn, Insomnia must be terrible! I'm asleep at ten o'clock, about five minutes after my head hits the pillow, and I wake up when the dog pokes his cold nose under the covers at six am.
If you can't sleep then exercise more... A good healthy hobby is what u need. Stay away from the sleeping pills and go pick up an old dirt bike, then ride the piss out of it for a day and I promise you'll sleep like a dog. Strenuous activity is good for the body and mind no matter what your age. I see lots of riders in their 50-60s. Sometimes after a long race I'll sleep for 16 hours. Then I'll get up and eat a bunch of Chinese take out and go back to bed...
This is a little warrsom. I hope you mean a motorized dirt bike. I'm to old and lazy to peddle my but around! The Chinese food sounds good though:lol:
I only get insomnia on work nights. If I don't work, I can go to bed at 9pm and wake up at 11am. If I have to work in the morning, I'm in bed by 830-9, then up at 1,2, and 3, when I need to be up by 4...awful stupid work
In bed at 9 up at 11am? I hate some people.....just wait till your an old fart like us! :frown2::lol:
