One aspect of my drive in an Abarth was the exhaust sound, very nice. Sounds better in real life that YouzTubez stuff.
I liked the exhaust note and the fun-to-drive factor of the Abarth, but I just couldn't get over the overwhelming feeling of being surrounded by cheapness. It's probably because my final act before selling my Fiat X1/9 was putting the choke linkage back together with parts from a go-kart.
When sound becomes more important than throttle response, gear box response, handling and road feel then maybe. That's not to say the Stebros on my old E type weren't killer but the sound sure didn't make the ride.
You suffered through a Fiat from the prime of Fiat's American failure. Oh my! I know these new ones have nothing in common with Fiat's of old other than the name. That being said when I think it would be fun to have an Abarth those old Fiat memories come flooding back in. :nonod: Heck it took me 4 years to get over the fact MINI's used a Neon engine.
I'ma trying to figure out how this video was recording the burble without anyone working the gas pedal....
What really swayed me was the 350 mile southern Ohio test drive I had in my friends wife's MINI. I came home walked in the door & said, "Babs we're buying a MINI. The rest as they say is history.
