Concept..... but rumors about it going into production.... Will it make it to the US... I'm betting not.... Probably home market... Here are some pic's... Toyota S-FR Concept: Small, Front-Engine, Rear-Drive? Sign Us Up
I like it. I think it would look better in a darker color so the 'face' is less noticeable. I used to have a Miata (several actually) and I really enjoyed the car with the hardtop on, more than with the top down. (I know, this is heresy to convertible lovers) With the hardtop on, was more of a cozy, intimate cabin that way. This car seems like it would have the same effect.
I agree with you on the color. That safety yellow/slime green does nothing for that car. Wonder if that will see production.
Fixed. Could never understand the appeal of sickly colors. The article says it's a 2+2 car. With that shape, I just can't imagine rear seating.
Very cool. I like it better in red. Dare I say it? Once I saw it in red it reminded me of the current Alfa 4C. Yup. It does.
Which is hilarious. My new build, technically, is a 4-seater. Though it will never have a back seat installed.
It gets my attention but not in a good way. If the Superleggera looks like a catfish then this is a large mouth bass... Looks like they used the same template to cut out the rear diffuser as the front grille... Close the grille mouth some and I could really like it...
That grille is just too big, needs toning down a bit. Ignoring that, I don't know yet. I might like the look, and the concept is great, but I want to see the view directly from the side and a rear quarter view. For some reason it makes me think of TVR. Don't know why and it's maddening. When I look closely that thought goes away but taking it in as a whole, thoughts of TVR keep creeping in. Then I look more closely for clues that might be familiar, TVR-ish, and it goes away again. Very strange. It's gotta be that front quarter view, something about the angle...maybe.
It reminds me a lot of an Opel GT. Even so I think it's sort-a cool and would certainly warrant a second look if and when it was ever made.
Manual only, no automatic? That sounds wonderful. But I bet Toyota wusses out and offers one. I think the Fiat 500 Abarth was the last car sold here to only be offered in a manual transmission version. Then FCA relented. Before that the wonderful R53 Cooper S was only offered in a manual for the first 3 or so years of production before MINI capitulated and sought those buyers who don't use their left foot to drive.
